Sweet bass and that finish looks awesome. I'd love to see how you adjust this bass for different songs in the context of a mix. So, if you only had this bass with you for a cover gig how do you adjust your playing style and the onboard eq to accommodate changes in the set. Plus maybe go through a few sounds that you like or find useful. Finding out what the extremes of the eq is only so useful. I'd like to see what you find great using what this bass has to offer.

Ya man! I have always wanted one in that finish too. Might be time to finally get one of these bad boys

I might have mistaken this for a Musicman Stingray Special from a distance. How does it compare to the Special in terms of sound and feel?

Could you speak to the bass’s weight and balance on a strap? I have one of the original Sterling by Musicman 5 strings, and it is pretty neck heavy. That being said, it is a great sounding instrument.
@bryanriley43022 жыл бұрын
You were lucky. Ours had the strings flat against the frets and is unplayable until we get it set up. Maybe someplace other than guitar center would have checked that before selling it.

Hi Marcelo, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the things you like or dislike about sterling compared to music man. And something else that might be interesting is to hear something about the stock strings, or adjustments you like to make when you get a new instrument

I have one in natural ash and it's a boat anchor. I think the painted ones having a different wood bodies and could be lighter.

Its around 11lbs... not unbearably heavy but not light either

I just picked up a Short Scale StingRay by Sterling and love it. It was $599 over 12 months no interest from the online company that begins with a Zz. I purchased it partially because of your review. My question is, what is the difference between the active full scale Sterling Rays and the Short Scale? Why are most of the active Sterling Rays less expensive? The roasted maple models are around the same price as my short scale. I'm talking about all the Sterling Rays in the $300 - $400 range. Those do say "sub" on the headstock whereas my shorty does not. Thanks for your great vids!
@cheveyo24032 жыл бұрын
Body Wood Nyatoh (DCP), Mahogany (DBL, OWH) for shortscales ray 4/5's are made of Basswood. could be more hardware differences. ray 34/35 is more expensive than shortscales
@TheBassWizard2 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming its because there's more demand and a wider audience for full scale basses, so it makes sense to have different models at different price points. The market for short scale is a lot smaller and more niche, so having just one model at a mid-tier price makes sense.

Most people say stingrays are good for metal. I DARE you to PROVE IT!!! Play it in mix and solo!!!
@Zen-js3tx2 жыл бұрын
They obviously took special care in the packing and set up of yours ONLY because they knew it would be reviewed. You received a cherry picked bass. Mine came in a box too small for the inner box, poorly packed bass and crushed and torn inner box and with the worst tuners I've ever seen on any bass. They literally would not turn without binding up and grinding off metal shavings. They actually sent it this way from Indonesia as passing their QC standards. This by the way was the Purple Sparkle 4H Ray34. Also the black paint on the tuners and on some of the black hardware was already coming off, neck felt like sand paper, truss rod wheel inoperative, fret work just so so. Sent it back, sticking with USA EBMM products from now on to avoid future migrane headaches.

A pocket knife would be a good quality of life change; So you don't have to bring out a 12 inch kitchen knife for tape
@TheBassWizard2 жыл бұрын
But then I wouldn't get comments like this about using a kitchen knife for the unboxing, and the more comments I get the better the video performs in the algorithm. So using a pocket knife wouldn't be advantageous because I'd get less comments
