Very nice review. This bass sounds very good. Thank you.

Personally I am not a fan of the Subs. However the Indonesian made Sterlings are absolutely stellar instruments and cost 1/3 the price of a US made Ernie Ball Stingrays and other Ernie Ball configurations.

The Marcus Miller Fender Jazz has a warm, scooped sound while the Stingray has a clear, mid-rangey punch no one else has…toss up to personal preference. For me, the Fender Jazz Bass wins every time but that’s me… everyone has different sounds, preferences and tastes. Great video and superb, mad chops bro!!!

Hello, I am wondering whether I should buy ray34 or darkray. Can you give me some advice. I love both of their clean sound. But I'm not sure about the use of the built-in fuzz and distortion in parcticality. Is it worth 600 bucks? Or I would only use my pedals finally.

Definitely helped me decide even if I’m using it for a genre you didn’t describe I chose the single pickup for more of a hard rock/metal style because I feel like with a little bit of distortion it will give me that low end growl I’m looking for

What would be the tone difference if any from the all maple neck that you played versus the Rosewood fingerboard neck? Thanks.

Bought it for 240, I actually got it cause I needed a bass since I moved and wanted to have something to practice, took me a while to get the tones I wanted but now I’m really happy with it, looking into upgrading the pickup only as I got used to the controls, oh btw, got it cause of this video as I was about to buy a squier.

I own both the Stingray Special basses (the H and HH). I do not slap or anything aggressive. They are very different sounding bass guitars. The bridge pickup on the HH does not sound like the bridge pickup on the single pickup. Surprisingly, the singe pickup Stingray has more useful tones than the HH model that has the coil mixing switch. To my ears the single pickup Stingrays actually sounds fuller and goes deeper that the HH Stingray and using the EQ can shape the single pickup to your tone of choice better than the HH Stingray. I like the HH which I bought first but after getting the single H Stingray I changed my mind about two pickups being better than one. My two pickup Stingray is gathering dust.

Great teachings. Don't stop.

Great on repeating yourself with your teaching lessons. The number of times over equals certainty. Hearing it once is never enough. My concern however is that not once did you mention 'strings' on a J bass or talk about how a flat or roundwound stainless string would or would not enhance the quality of sound with the pick - up location of the J bass. Can you share a reply on that instead of a whole new video?

Totally agree. I do most of my playing in theater pits and in the enclosed area, boominess is very often a problem. Getting the amp off the floor and using a HPF (high pass filter) have been a huge help. Something else, and a bit outside of your post topic, is the sound of a lot of keyboard patches. My feeling is that the programers of those patches use balance and internal EQ to make them sound good as solo sounds. Fine, but in a mix more often than not, the end effect is way too much bass. Turning the bass down (lots) on the keyboard amp has been a big help in the overall mix and gives the bass area of the bandwidth back to the bass player. Thanks for your fine post.
