After waiting over a month, I finally unbox my new QuickJack portable lift and get the summer wheels on my 1950 Ford Shoebox and my 2009 Volkswagen Touareg daily driver.

I threw out the sealant as soon as i opened my 7000TL and used teflon tape. Read that the sealant is junk and ppl were having non-stop issues with it

I have a QJ 5000TL coming in the next day or so and after measuring the lift point spread on my C7 Corvette I've been hoping the lift point spread on the QJ will work for me. I never thought about setting up the QJ across the car like you did with your Touareg so thanks for the great tip. Have watched a lot of vids and never saw anyone do this before. Great idea.

Hey do you like this still? I never chose to get one before thought about it but now I think I'm ready to bite the bullet and buy it and I'll soon ask myself why I hadn't bought this before lol. Waiting for a sale though but I think i may have missed them, want it to be ready for my spring maintenance.

Still love it. I use it all the time. I’ve seen it go on sale lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened again before spring.

The quickjack cams support auto unlock using the remote. Just go up until the cam goes fully over the locking nub until you hear the second click (maybe just a little bit more) and then you can go down and the cam will flip over and ride over the locking nub in the channel. This is by design. Unfortunately, it does not work on the upper position as the jack maxes out its movement before the locking bar cam can move enough to fully move over the cam. There was a design/marketing decision to sacrifice the auto unlock capability to get more lift height. But it does work on the lower position, so you could use it in the lower position as you were using in the video at around 17:30 Just go up a bit then you can go down and you won't have to manually lift the bars to unlock them. I use the capability on mine quite a bit; pretty much every time I want to lower the jack when it was locked in the lower locking position.

Thnx for sharing. Two point's I have as an comment. First with the locking glue it should be noticed in the manual instead of the teflon sealing tape but the time you have to wait that the glue is fully harded should written or shown from the glue manufacturer not from quickjack. It is same with loctide securing glue. But I would take the teflon seal to secure the threads, too. For lifting the first car in your video you have to rotating the supports 180 degree because its tipping forward to the heaviest point of gravity. The reason is the higher wait in front with the engine. I mean that is quickjack talking about in the safety notice. The third only with your VW. I think it is not designed for use it like this the reason would be the point of gravity. Only to the sides and parallel.
@BuiltbyaGeek
@BuiltbyaGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Benjamin. You are correct with the thread sealer, I wasn't letting it sit long enough. I believe I even mentioned it at some point in the video. Also thanks for pointing out the jacks were the wrong way when lifting the old Ford. I realized this much later but never fixed it in the video. As for lifting it sideways, QuickJack themselves said this was fine as long as they are parallel and it's safe to do so (weight distribution, etc). Of course, you have to be careful regardless of which direction you use it. Thanks again for the feedback!
@benjaminwiener9942
@benjaminwiener9942 2 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. I watching last days a lot of videos from Quickjack owner's how to see their experience and handling with that system. Did you let it with the Teflon sealing tape like it is in your Video? OK nice to know that sideways is OK, too. But as you said you have to take care with it. For an car I feel more save in the length direction if you work under the car. I hope you stay tuned for some videos working with Quickjack and I if you have some fails to talk about that. greetz from Germany

Hey just a heads up, I cringed when I saw you lift that SUV up sideways.. These Quick Jack lifts are directional, says it in the instruction booklet. The yellow/white label with the quick Jack information & warnings should face to the front of the vehicle with the locking cams on the outside. For rear engine vehicles then you would turn the jacks around. So to sum it up basically always have your quick Jack warning labels in the direction of the motor.
@BuiltbyaGeek
@BuiltbyaGeek 11 ай бұрын
@ds1755 Sorry to say my friend, but that's incorrect. The only real requirement is that the frames always need to be parallel to each other. It is perfectly fine to use the jack sideways. In fact, QuickJack themselves have several videos on their own channel about the subject. Like anything however, safety first and only do it if the car is stable.

24h for hydraulic sealant to cure. I would use replace the generic included with Loctite 569 brown for a very tight bonding solution, possibly 545 if disassembly needed. Apply to male threads and let cure 24h before any oil contact.

With the lifting blocks you are probably looking at around 4”. I can’t measure right now because my truck is on it, but I’m sure you could find the details on the quickjack site. I believe the 5000lbs model has a lower profile, but don’t quote me on that.

With the truck/SUV adapter how high does this lift?

I think with the full adapter height it adds an extra 6" which is close to 24" off the ground I believe. The QuickJack site will have all the height measurements.
