Unboxing Of The Skullcandy Barrel XT

hey guys Jagist here and this is the unboxing of the skullcandy barrel xt, let's see what it looks like and how it sounds, it's only available on Walmart online at the moment, it should go on other sites soon i would imagine, let me know what you guys think, it's 169.99$ currently, I think it's way worth it at that price, let do some comparisons and see how it holds up againts the competition, don't forget to like and subscribe fam 💜

It has extra bass u have to hold the play button nd the play button will light up to indicate that the extra bass is on

One thing I like is when you put it on bass boost it stays there if you don't take it off! When you turn it off and you turn it back on, you don't have to set the bass boost again because it stays in bass boost mode! I'm glad it's that way! Also the light show only changes if you change it! I love it

@@Jagistreviews I think the main thing that surprises us is the price. If it was $299 or something like $249 we would still say it's a pretty good speaker but we probably wouldn't be praising it as much, since it would only be slightly cheaper than the JBL boombox 3. But since it's way cheaper than any speaker out there that sounds as good it's amazing. My opinion there's not a $79 speaker out there that I know of that sounds as good as this Skullcandy barrel. I'm sure they will go back up on the price soon. I mean, they are losing a lot of money I would think but I'm not a business man So I really don't know. Lol

I applaud you for not using an extremely overkill recording setup. Most tech reviewers suppress the senses in their videos with their expensive equipment which is kind of made to equalize everything. I know most people have no clue how powerful good speakers like these are, and when they see a video by a large channel they think they need one way bigger than they actually do. This video shows the true power of bass with the artifacts in the camera and also the fullness of the sound makes it very pleasant to listen to, almost like it was real life.

@@Jagistreviews Yes they are copying JBL. But I'm glad they didn't copy JBL on the price tag. There is a huge difference in the price! But in my opinion not a real huge difference in the sound quality. Don't get me wrong boombox 3 is a little bit louder at 80 and 100% volume. But the sound quality is debatable as far as which one sounds the best. In my opinion they are both great speakers. But one of them is more affordable and of course we know which one that is

@mattelvislindsay1326 I agree 100 percent, at the current price you can literally buy like 4 or 5 skullcandy Barrels for the price of one jbl boombox 3, that's insane, and like you said the boombox 3 is a bit louder and better sounding but not enough to justify their price tag

@@Jagistreviews but the thing is it really only sounds better once you get it past 60% volume. And by then it's so loud you need to turn it down anyway. But it would arguably be better at a party with like say, 50 or 60 people. I think the Skullcandy could handle it but it's not quite as loud as the boombox 3. But I don't really throw parties anyway. Plus the Skullcandy is really loud enough. But yes the boombox three is a little bit louder. And a hell of a lot more expensive

@@Jagistreviews You can buy at least five Skullcandy barrels for the price of one boombox 3. By then it would probably be louder than the boombox 3 anyway. The boombox 3 is a good speaker but in my opinion it should be priced at about $299. But of course I can't tell them what to charge but that's what I personally think it's worth at least that's what it's worth to me lol And even that is a bit expensive

Mine comes next week. Will compare to my encore essential. Apparently the barrel xl has better bass than the stormbox blast. The blast is about equal to a boombox 2 since they use the same woofers. So i would think this would fall just below a boombox 3 and my essential. But the question is by how much.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I think this is about the quality of the boombox 2 but not quite as good as the boombox 3 and the encore, let me know what you think when you get it

@sarcxsm7230 so the jbl encore and jbl boombox 3 are a notch above the tribit stormbox blast and monster blaster 3.0 and skull candy barrel xt, so if I had the choice of the skull candy or a jbl encore or boombox 3 I'd for sure pick the encore, but the skull candy and other speakers good their own really well and sounds pretty dang close

Honestly both are super solid speakers, the tribit probably is just a little better and has a better battery life than this one, I'll do a vs battle between the two of them pretty soon and we will see how they sound againts eachother, but for 169$ you can't go wrong with the skullcandy

Love it but it didnt come with the detachable strap & not sure i wanna go through returning it just because of that. Not sure what to do because lugging it to my last kickback was...a lot harder than if i just had the strap 😭 Any recommendations? They dont sell the strap on the website or anywhere as far as i can see. But the website states the detachable strap comes in the box. So that kinda sucks. Edit: Did yours not come with one either? Lil confused.

I guess the one's they sold at Walmart none of them came with a strap only the more expensive one's they sell on there website come with the strap, you might be able to find a strap on Amazon that could work, I use my jbl extreme 3 strap since mine didn't come with it

It does have the extra bass button and sounds a lot better with it on, it's the play button you hold it down for a few seconds and it turns bass boost on

Thank you, later when my head is cleared of other stuff, I'll dive back into my 200 hours of portable speaker research I completed 3 months ago and tell you the best speakers for the money I discovered under 200.00, right now I use my 2nd choice speaker as my primary speaker with 5200 mAh battery the W-King D9-1 with 60watts, which sounds amazing for the price, as long as you can spend under 75.00 for it, had this for almost 1 year, but interesting in upgrading in something a little higher quality and want to rule out this Skull choice first, it also sounds amazing for under 80.00, but I think we can do better this month with Black Friday deals and still stay under 150.00 (stay tuned)
