I love this little projector. If the price was a smidge lower I'd think it was even better. $500-550 feels like a much better price tag then the $650 MSRP they sell it for... but the argument remains that for an ultra short throw projector with its capabilities it somewhat stands alone and sets the bar.
DESPITE THAT, I still think it finds a better place in the market at a lower price.

Eight-Six What do you mean by it upscales nice? how do you upscale at 720 P projector? Serious question because I’m stuck between the two projectors you have yourself. Now that you’ve had both for a while... which one would you get rid of or which one would you buy again

You did help me a lot man!!! A soon as I finish watching your video I went to ebay and bought it right away. After so many days watching videos on different short throw projectors I could not decide what to get until I found your channel. This is my first projector so...........I would say in a year or so i can upgrade it to a more high end projector. Thanks a lot!!! SUBSCRIBED!!!

One year later, do you have an update? This has gotten even cheaper now and there doesn't seem to be any successor from LG in that price range. I am very tempted. Will be my first projector too. Looking for an UST that doesn't cost as much as a car.

This was perfect. Great review. I've been shopping these as of late looking for a better viewing solution in my recently remodeled bedroom. My original plan was to re-hang my 50" plasma on the wall, or a 65" that I have available, but I really didnt feel like putting holes in my wall and snaking wires again for the clean look I desired. I landed on the LG short throw projectors, and my big question was is the price difference/more lumens between the 450 and 1000 worth the jump in price. The answer for me is NO!... and thank you for your great review that solidified my decision. You are right on when it comes to what specs companies advertise vs real world results. I am a projector guy, and I'm currently running a 4k Epson model on a 120'' screen in my mancave. Its fantastic...but my bedroom is a different use case. I'll probably always have a little ambient light during the day and it looks like the 450 will fit the bill, and give me a larger viewing area with more flexibility...and no holes in my wall! Thanks again!

This review is much appreciated and thank you! Just FYI for those that are looking to buy this, ON OCCASION (in recent months) I've seen this on sale @ Fry's online and in store ONLY if you sign up for their email ads. It's usually on sale for $399 with code -yes I know). I also currently have the LG PF1000U with no complaints (aside from focusing on the fan sound from time to time) yet I was still intrigued by the footprint of this device. Now not on your dime, but for the past year I've been dying for someone to review IN ENGLISH the Ultrawide Ultra Short Throw Acer Predator Z850 Gaming Projector. It's only $4999 :D There are very few videos on KZbin but mostly at conventions and other languages and so far, ONLY on sale at the Acer website.

sheesh, 5k, If I had it laying around I'd do it! I'm no projector expert but I like looking in to this field to expand myself. Anything ACER throws 'Predator' in to means big money. Have you seen there new Predator they showed at CES?? 9k for a laptop, 21" curved display and SLI 1080's. I focus on more affordable lower consumer options, I have been checking a lot of irulu stuff out, I sort of want to compare some less dominating brands, if you have any insight?

Hey Mat, an excellent little review, you make a good point about reviews on YT, this model has just dropped on my radar, I have a Philips screeneo projector already, and this looks good for the price. Here in the UK 2020 I'm looking about 450-500 GBP a good price I thought for the features this provides. Think I'm gonna dive right in

Finally the best review out there... There is a slight bump at the top of the projected screen, this seems to be the comment on most reviews, do you think this is a problem in all their devices or just a configuration issue... Warm up the bulb? Is it LED? I keep looking at the one Sony made but this is 4 times the lumens so i assume must be better, and this new is cheaper then the Sony used. Maybe you can do a lumen review? I have been looking for a while and it still makes no sense to me. As you said, manufacturers use bullshit 1080p language to trick people into buying 480p projectors all the time, it is the same with lumens. I have had 100 lumen projectors far brighter than 1000 lumen projectors because there are 2 types of lumens and no one knows what it means.

I'm having quite big input lag when connecting laptop through hdmi (or running stadia on chromecast), ca 200-500 ms. Is this expected or it's faulty hdmi slot?
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 3 жыл бұрын
Idk if I’d settle with it being an hdmi input issue - that’s a super high ms lag time. You should be expecting something more like 30-70. Have you tried a different device to see if you could replicate the delay?

M. Fatani the USTs just make sense to me, I wish there were more of them and I'd like to see comparably lower prices on them. I love the PF1000U and while it's color is mildly better to me, it's twice the cost. The 450 is great don't get me wrong, I just feel like the price doesn't fit it accurately. And thanks for the comment, I'm no projector GURU so I hope it helped some if at all 😄

Thanks for a great review I was worried about the relatively low lumens compared to conventional projectors I've used for business type presentations with 3000 lumens. I guess the closer to the wall you get the less lumens you need. Good replacement for a dead 43 inch plasma? I like the idea of something compact that will deliver a much bigger screen. Did you use it with a proper projector screen, if so what gain factor would you recommend?
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 7 жыл бұрын
SuperMadpom no projector really replaces a TV for me. As long as you have somewhere you won't be completely washed it should be fairly enjoyable to have 😄. And no, I have no screens to compare to but there is a $65 one on Amazon that's motorized I've thought about getting

Thanks for the down-to-earth video. Sometimes it's good NOT to be an expert, throwing out tech-talk, most of us civilians don't understand! Looking for a cost effective way to do a DJ show w/music videos & Karaoke. I'll have 2x 32" screens flanked diagonally on the side with a 80" screen in the center. Technology makes it possible to do with minimal stuff to haul around at an affordable cost!

Thanks for the rad review. Also checked out your Brookstone Big Shot one as well. Looking for something to project on stage for a band. Something that is bright enough and can enlarge beyond 80-100". Some resolution loss isn't an issue. Like the Brookstone. Won't need the speakers at all. Do you think the Brookstone or this LG would be a better fit? Thanks for your opinion. Much obliged
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the delay, we were dealing with some of that hurricane/storm that just rode through. Someone else asked a similar question and wanted to know about the features. The Bigshot 'feels' brighter as it is an unfiltered DLP that offers great contrast and lower latency as well. The image can not be rotated or inverted though.

For the price would you rather go with a lower end 4k tv or this? I'm a college student and looking for the best option. The projector is obviously easier to maneuver. But would you go with the TV or this?
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 7 жыл бұрын
That is circumstantial to me. I still own TV's and there are places I would prefer TV's over a projector. It just depends really. If you are going for the dorm life use of it some things to consider are 'how often will you move it?' resetting it up takes a few minutes to get the picture squared away. 'How lit is the room?' too much light will bleed out your picture... like if the sun comes in poorly shaded windows in the AM where you are trying to watch it. 'How important is image depth and definition to you?' If you are a stickler for ultra resolutions and colors the DLP imaging in the projector is not on par with 4k TV's. It just depends really on what you want :) Hope this helps.

The most informative review of this product i have seen. I need a solution like this but to be able to cope with daylight (but not super sunny) to watch football (soccer) in the garden, has to be watchable in daylight but doesn’t have to be the movie picture quality experience in daylight, just watchable and be able to see whats going on clearly in the game. Would you have an idea if this device can cope with that lumens wise. I currently have one of those Chinese pocket 100 ANSI lumens projectors and i cant see a thing. Don’t even know if it is switched on.
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 6 жыл бұрын
LarnacaSystem we under estimate a little bit of daylight sometimes, just a bit can wash out a lot of projectors. If the windows are open the screen in a room can become pretty washed out. If I’m the evening or twilight, you will have far better results. Distance also matters. The further back for the larger image will reduce your ability to see. The unknown variables make it hard to determine.

Rui Zhang mine appears fine, the 1000U had a corner issue but oddly some minor adjusting solves that. Maybe a slight imperfection on the device itself? Get a good picture of it and shoot it to LG, I’m sure they’d find a way to make good on it (or likely offer you better support than I can 😕) Hard to trouble shoot things like that without being hands on for me.

Hi, I got my PH450UG but i dont understand on how the "screen share" work on this thing as advertised and stated in the product manual. As I know to be able to mirror a screen, at least 2 devices have to be connected in a same network. Does this projector have WLAN adapter inside? I doubt it.. ok, so since i dont have any android device to test the miracast or screen share or whatever the name is, I also noticed that this device support Intel WiDi feature, so I tried it with my laptop but it can only detect the projector without being able to connect. After entering a key (8 digits code) from the projector, it cant be connected Am i missing something here?

@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 7 жыл бұрын
Ivan Babic that pw1000g looks nice, never had hands on with it though! Some light is okay and still watchable, but just like with most projectors... the more light the more the image becomes washed out. I might look in to trying that 1000g though, if I do I'll make a video. I'd say go with your gut and wants, compare outputs, remotes, and how you want to configure your setup. Like a pros and cons list. Good luck to you!

You mean just watching wise? It internally upscales - so if you're watching 1080p DVD or something the native resolution fills the gaps to 1080p (it looks good but its not true 1080p since the native chip is 720p) did that answer?

At last i bought LG PH450UG. i like it. Thank you for your video and support. only thing is that its not having smart tv or android TV options. need to get one android box TV. i need something really compact with AIR mouse. I dont know why my texts are not clear as yours. its really blured. what could be the reason? i kept on bed. is it becaus of that? or is it because of PH450UG and not PH450U. i find lot of people complaint same. but what i know ultra short need to keep in proper flat place.
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 6 жыл бұрын
A flat level surface, these lg USTs are temperamental. Make super small incremental adjustments when focusing, let it stay on for a few minutes before focusing it. I recommend a Roku streaming stick 😄 if you’re looking for something small and compact.

so according to you as per the result you see PH450U video quality is better than PF1000U. Im planning to buy either these two. but was worried about their lumens. i found 3000 lumens gives good result for both dark and lighted rooms. What we really miss in PH450U when compared to PF1000U? PH450U can only go upto 80 inches right? can it go 100 inches? if so quality degrades? did you try it for 100 and above it?
@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 6 жыл бұрын
axxo axx now for the price difference especially at the time, I think the 450u is the better buy. No UST that I’ve had hands on with really compare with real cast projectors. Lumens is also hard to gauge because theirs no real governance on how a company really measures the brightness and at what point (so take those with a grain of salt). The 1000u has a lot more functionality and control and looks great (I as a consumer though... don’t feel like it justifies its price especially with its weak streaming UI) If you’re looking for something UST and not a projector elitist the 450 is a solid contender. It’s a shame Brookstone discontinued their Bigshot. If you’re looking more on an enthusiast level the Xiaomi projector or the new LG UST May serve you better.
@axxoaxx288
@axxoaxx288 6 жыл бұрын
thanks for your fast reply. New LG UST will take time to reach in our market . also cannot afford its price. The new LG ProBeam HF85JS is more expensive. still it is not above 2000 lumens yet. PH450 can go above 100 inch, right? even though LG dont mention in their specs. Even if PH450 has webos, i felt it is really nonsense . if it was android it was far better. but magic remote is really good option but it lacks taht remote.

Really depends on what works best for you, 24 inches at the smallest (but thats my opinion), I have a special 32" depth TV stand because I like to take it as far out as possible for about 100ish inches. The farther you pull it back the dimmer, but still doable in the right settings especially if you use projector paint or screens (I don't for my UST's but it would make for a better experience). Hope that helps?

@EightSixMatt
@EightSixMatt 6 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Machado of the ones I have tried the 450U is the smaller more discrete option for that. The 1000U is a good choice also depending on budget. (LG also has a newer model similarly priced UST I haven’t looked at yet that’s SUPPOSED to be a better option than the 1000U, though I haven’t looked in to much) I like price to value, so I like the 450U as it’s more consumer friendly for everything you can get/do with it. If price isn’t an obstacle though, I’d probably drop the extra cash for more inputs, integrated smart features and that magic remote.

Here is an excerpt from what I'm reading about them "Grey screens work best with bright projectors and rooms where the ambient light cannot be fully controlled. @EightSixMatt 7 жыл бұрын
In the video it's a little over 90ish inches. You could achieve more but you lose some brightness, and may suffer from corner curving. It surely isn't the recommended setting (even at what I have it at) but it can do well beyond what its marketed for. It's a hard question to answer, I want to tell you yes, because yes, but just know you may face limitations with brightness, corner focus, and furniture deep enough to have it far enough back to project that size. Sorry if this wasn't helpful.
