I noticed a couple of new features compared to my MN99 from over a year ago, it's nice to see MN Models are still making little improvements.
Theres a new brass bushing situated on the top steering link.
The headlights now constantly stay on, whereas before they would only come on when you touched the throttle.
The electronics also feel alot smoother than my older mn99, very nice slow control now.
I highly recommend this little truck! 👊😊

Upgrading these RCs looks like half the fun and I've already waterproofed my son's MN 99s thanks to your waterproofing video. I'm working my way through your How-to videos and like the look of the C34 tyres with weights and foam. I love my mn99 it's been an awesome rig for a good year and a half now, but with the good comes some bad, it's only fair to let people know the downsides aswel as the good so they can make the decision themselves whether the good outweighs the bad. I'm lucky I've got the opportunity to review trucks I personally know well, so I can pass my knowledge on to the viewer 😊

Nice review. I recently bought an MN 99s for my son's birthday after watching yours and Tomley RCs videos. It's my first dip into the world of RCs and I'm keen to learn. Hoping to replicate some trailing down here on the Devon hills.

It's a good 1st dip bud! Out of the box its very capable indeed, lots of room for budget mods like adding weight to the wheels or putting a oeb spring inside the shocks to stiffen up slightly. The landy will look at home in Devon ❤

I think the soft springs add to the realism.

They give more than enough flex which is a good thing, when on an uneven surface you get a wobble on 😂 Sometimes if your going to quick the soft springs aid in the tipping, if you take it slow and let the suspension catch up it's very capable indeed

Nice video. I nice mod for the shocks it's to put a pen coil inside the shocks. For what I have seen the truck version it's better on the top weight. But I prefer this version. Can't wait to finish my rig, still waiting for a steering servo.

Funny enough I did that mod today on my own mn99 😂 I think I need softer springs its very stiff indeed now. I've got the jx mg1181 servo here to review in the coming days, very nice metal gears inside.

I've used Banggood quite a few times and they have always been exemplary in there dealings with me. I've had three items turn up with issues (mainly broken bits due to transit issues). And in each case I have had a refund or a brand new replacement no questions asked. So I've found them to be completely trustworthy. MN's tend to be quite well packaged but I did end up with one with a damaged bumper. But it got sorted, no hassle! 👍😀👍😀

Best of luck, keep an eye for for future vids on the mn99 😉 A little mod you can do is add pen springs to the inside of the standard shock to give it more stability and less wobble

I finished weighting the MN96s wheels an hour or so ago, needs a fair bit more though I think...the body weighs a hell of a lot! Toppling is the only issue I have with the MNs, they're great little things!

I've had to take the cage off for now, get as much weight off the top as possible! I may strip it all down and paint it though, and maybe put the 370 single speed in it...I'm not sure though...I think I need more radio gear to to that though 😂

@@lukedavis4213 I seen tomely rc stopped the cage off his aswel, it looked nice in yellow stripped back. I have c34 weighted wheels on my mn99 and the weight of the roof doesn't phase it much anymore. I think adding a bigger motor would require some hobbygrade electronics, the stock electronics are designed for a 260 motor.

I have the mn96 and it is a really nice rig plenty of power and looks great but the only thing that truly bugs me is the throttle is too twitchy trying to go slow

i'm considering buying another one, just to proof to everybody, that those trucks stock are not rly capable. I mean sure, if you drive mostly on flats it's doing okay. but if you rly wanna crawl it, like it suposed to do, then you need weights for sure. If you add weight, you wear out every plastic part in no time. Motor will burn out fast or gears will strip..It's perfect for kids no doubt about that. for grown ups, who rly wanna use it in a good crawling trail, then it's not.. I rly like the way you do videos and all, the only thing i don't like is the confirmation you give to those companys by saying that. Cause ppl will belive that and buy it, thinking it's a good rock crawler from the start out. I was the same, when i bought mine. Saw tons of ppl telling those trucks are the ones to buy, cause they are very good and capable. After spending tons of money on it, it still is not finished. But besides the allways needs repair, i like do modifications and make it a very good rock crawler.

@@aeQuator on the wpl box they are called the racing series, they certainly ain't racing trucks 😂 Chinese marketing at it's best 😂 My channel is dedicated to these small scale budget trail trucks so I know from experience with them they are perfectly suited for the trail and not rock crawling. I'll bring this up with wpl to rebrand they're trucks as trail trucks, as for mn they have no offical platforms to get in contact. I do mention in the upcoming run video of the mn99 that its perfectly suited for the trail, it toppled going up a steep hill and I point out that its very top heavy. For $50 it's a whole heap of fun!

I know this is late but can anyone tell me why my MN 99S is performing worse than my MN99 classic model d90 (the one being reviewed) i opened them both up and and the the MN99 classic model d90 has a blue cap on the end of the motor, however the MN99S has a black cap. does this mean anything? in terms of performing worse im meaning the classic model d90 seems to have a lot more torque than the MN 99s which in turn has a higher top speed but seems to be worse for crawling (getting over obstacles etc) further to this I also found that the MN99s has a different receiver plug and play circuit board than the MN99 classic model d90 but I have discovered this makes no difference from what I understand it only makes the buzzing noise of the motor a slightly different tone which is strange...? I know this is not a forum but i have looked absolutely everywhere for this and cannot find anything.

I have just got my hands on a new stock mn99s, I know what you mean, the modulation is alot smoother but its lacking torque like the older mn99 I got. The remote protocols are different to, my mn99 remote doesn't pair up with my mn99s 🤔 Its seems they traded power for smooth modulation which the older 99 didn't have
