Can you give an update as to how its doing after a few years?

Hello. Still own this power unit. It boosted a car battery when first bought the XPF400, and it worked fine then. Charging the XPF400 every month. Never use it now because bought what's called a "trickle charger" connected to the car at night, and this works better for some people. Will keep charging Schumacher's battery to maintain it, though. No sense throwing it away or letting it lapse. It might come in handy some day!

What happens if you dont charve it upon purchase, i turned the light on twice a d have not completely charged it, will mine still work?
@scenebank2684 жыл бұрын
Unsure. Depends on how long ago you bought it? But keep charving it every single month until green light goes on. Like clockwork. Without regular re-charging once a month, their manual says the unit will stop working totally.

@@scenebank268 mine didn't do that. I'd forgotten I'd purchased this thing and when I found it I'd had it between 1-2 yrs. THE GREEN LIGHT WAS STILL ON when turned it on AND when I plugged it in to make sure it had a full charge, also the LED lights were as bright as could be. I plugged my iPhone into the USB Port just to check and make sure it really was working and it worked perfectly! Maybe I just got lucky LOL

How do you turn it on
@scenebank2683 жыл бұрын
There is no ON/OFF switch. Just hook the clamps to the car battery, and it will automatically start draining from Schumacher into car battery.

MMMMM the video should say "Unboxing and charging" what about using to start a car? Usually, this kind of device has a turn on/off switch and you didn't explain how to use it at all, this video is uncompleted!
@scenebank2684 жыл бұрын
Good point. Didn't have time to hook it up to a car that had an uncharged battery. In the video, the black button turns on a kind of emergency nightlight. The black button is *not* an ON/OFF switch. There is actually no ON/OFF switch on this unit, because once you connect the leads to the car battery, it "closes the circuit" and starts sending juice from the portable batt into the car battery. So no ON/OFF switch needed. But make sure the car ignition is turned off before connecting the portable battery!

how do you know when it is fully charged? Seems like all three battery lights will light up green. One mine one battery turns green and flashes (after 30 minutes of charging, at first the red battery light was lit). Then I take it out to my car to start it, it doesnt start so I put it back on the charger and now the battery light is back red? Im confused.
@scenebank2684 жыл бұрын
This is just a guess, but were the 2 clamps connected directly to the terminals on the car battery? Some car manuals say that it should be 1 clamp to the car frame, and 1 clamp to the battery terminal, but..... As for the red light, after trying to boost a car battery, the unit probably gets drained a bit, so the light should turn red when starting to recharge it, then should go green after 10 minutes or so.

Its useless if you dont charge it once every month. If you let it sit for months throw it away
@scenebank2686 жыл бұрын
Yes, good point. The user manual recommends re-charging this unit once a month. Otherwise, its internal battery will break apart, and become useless. Each month, when I "top-up" the unit's battery's charge, I notice that it takes less than a minute to go from red light (charging) to green light (fully charged).
