In today's video I upgrade our home security by installing a Ring Alarm. The Ring Alarm comes in lots of different configurations - this is the kit I purchased - amzn.to/3IU4pOQ. You can buy additional Motion Sensors ( amzn.to/3L3A4PB ), Door / Window Contact Sensors ( amzn.to/3GqcFV8 ). Plus if you want to take your system externally, you can add a traditional 'Bell Box' - amzn.to/3GnWCXX and even sensors for gates and sheds - amzn.to/3gfRzht
Oh - the included Rawl Plugs are rubbish - I used these -
Because it's modular you can add to the system as you can afford it, or your needs change.
You don't need any existing Ring products - but if you do this all meshes nicely with them. The fact that it has a battery and cellular back up means your system will still work even if the power or broadband is out. It doesn't rely on WiFi either - so the Ring Alarm products don't need that to 'speak' to each other.
I hope you enjoy the video, and if you have any questions stick them in the comments below.

I know this video is a year old. I have got a ring system and I have outdoor contact sensor on my gate and it been through everything extreme rain wind and frost. And it’s update’s straight away like the indoor ones. I recommend them.

Although I am now completely deaf from the sirens (don't wear headphones whilst watching) great vlog! I reckon even I could give setting that up a go. It seems really straightforward and really decent security cover.

I have Google Nest products set up all over my smart home 🏡But was still very interested in seeing how Ring products compare, But with what I know and see it's just a matter of preferences? as you wouldn't really want a mix & match of both! even though I have a few different well-known named smart devices doted all-over lol but its best to stick to one for the main stuff, Anyways it was a really nice video, entertaining, educational and with good easy to follow step-by-step set-up, Thanks for yet another brilliant video my good friend Kip Hakes... 🙂👍

@@kiphakes Thanks Kip I do, I'm currently using things like Nest Hub Max, Samsung smart things, Ziggy, Hue Bridge, TP-link plus other stuff that can't be Paired, But I'm trying to simplify a few things as it can get a bit overwhelming for my partner lol its easier to understand when not having to have loads of apps to setup and have on phone, I'm fine with it but a certain other thinks it's to much to remember lol 😆 👍

as a alarm engineer myself i moved into a house with a ring alarm i set it one day and came home found i had been burgled and the system hadnt gone off hence it had to go , great video though

All wireless alarm systems are jamable. So, as long as it was armed and setup correctly, you probably suffered a experienced burglar. Some has features to treat a lost connection as jamming eg. trigger the alarm. Ring does not at this time, as far as I am informed.

@@HotelGolf82 totally agree with you hence I ditched the cheap ring system and replaced it with a traditional hardwired system

We have a verisure person showing up tomorrow and I am currently considering to get a ring setup, Verisure works out about £540 a year and likely around £700 setup so very expensive
@kiphakes
@kiphakes 11 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t use Verisure tbh.. it’s essentially the same as a Ring system (but with a manned call centre), but a lot more expensive. Also someone on our estate was robbed.. so I can’t help but wince when I see the ‘protected by Verisure’ plaque outside the house (that was there before the robbery)

I ended up sending the guy away as he turned up an hour and a half late and we had made our mind to go with the ring setup, i used your link but ended up getting the 13 kit so not sure if you'll get any affiliate for this, it should arrive tomorrow, thanks for the feedback and keep up the good videos 👍

Small tip fit the sensor big bit on the frame. The continual motion of the door thudding will break it over time. So just have the magnet on the actual door 👍🏻
