It's been a couple years, but for those watching this: those sets of 2 silicone bands or rings are actually for adjusting the rigging. They work together. The rigging lines go THROUGH the ring closest to the end of the boom of mast. The line is then TIED to the inner silicone ring. The outer ring adjust the angle of the line by sliding it back and forth, the inner ring adjusts the tension by sliding it back and forth. I wish I could post a picture..

I think this is a great RG65, perfect for learning to sail and trim the sails, the rigging looks well thought out. You can always harden the knots. It's a good looking sailboat. Jeff in LA USA

Nice video to promote RC sailing, here are a couple of recommendations if it is ok: we would recommend not using wire loops to tie the mainsail around the mast, use rope instead. It is more precise, and rope loops are lighter and there is no danger of getting entangled with other RC sailboats on regatta as that can happen with metal rings around the mast easily. But, long wire instead of rope as forestay on the jib works much better than most of the ropes performance-wise. Thanks for sharing this video, hope it draws people into radio-controlled sailing fun wherever they are worldwide!

I has been sailing for a while with IOM Disco n Victoria class. Its has a cool looking hull like an IOM. Im impressed of how the mast is attached to the deck. Wonder how it holds up the cabin dryness...haha.. I notice the leading edge of the main sail is not tight as a straight line. It should be as tight as possible tied on the crane n boom. That will give the main sail some more rigidity n power when it catches wind and retain that as much air as possible.

Wow man great vid! Me and a friend in the 90's had 2 of the thunder tiger victorias we put together. Like with any kind of racing when you have 2 or more participants is fun as hell. Been looking to get back into it with a Kyosho Fortune Yacht (big fan of scale detail and Japanese models, Tamiya, Tomix, Kyosho) but just seeing your informative, detailed video on this one I'm thinking of getting this instead haha. What you put into this vid shows man, thx.

It is cool boat, I would love to see more videos like this. Did you consider to make one video of IOM class RC sailboat, they are even better (but more expensive, of course...)? I know many people would want to see "K2" from Sailboat RC for example (best IOM currently), that would be so awesome as I hear they even pack these things in a super cool way?! 🤩😊

Hi, I am a RC sail yacht sailer, the rear sail/ main sail is too tight hends the wrinkles put adjustable plastic buckles for adjustment and some sealant on the keel under neigh the hull, stops water from getting in the hull, the main sail is too high your losing wind through their.? experience sailer for many years.

Vang, my firend, not high or boom ajustement. And the rigid things of the main sail are battens. I can imagine all trimming technics used in real yatching should work for RC. Also the thing that add tension to the "boom side" (luff) of the main is called outhal. With all those controls you should check out a video about trimming the Main Sail on youtube, it should improve your performance.

The connection of the backstay to the masthead looks awful, that silicon tubing will easily slip off in strong wind. I had high hopes for this one , will stay with DG65. Do like the design of the hull/deck though.

Obviously, you do not know about the finer aerodynamics of sails, the "foot" of both sails are too tight and sails should never be that flat! Otherwise, it is a good boat and I appreciate that you did your very best and you loved building it. Congratulations.

Thanks for that. I think the fact that even me, a complete noob, could assemble this, sail it with some success and most of all enjoy it is a compliment to the model

So, it is obvious that you are not a sailor. A sheet is not the sail it is the line that controls the sail. Think mainsheet or jib sheet.

Don't be like that. I know nothing about RC but know a little about real yachting and the video was enjoable enogh, even when my ears bleeded when he said "this rigid things".
