Amazon does not charge cards the second it says order placed. Sometimes takes 1-2 business days before they actually decide to charge the card. So it had nothing to do with Coinbase, just Amazon processes slow.

That's correct.. I work at the warehouse. They usually process the card when you're item has been order picked and sent towards the shipping department.

This is a really interesting question. Here's what I think: You are certainly right that this may involve taxes, but since the price difference between USDC and fiat USD is almost 0, you would incur almost 0 capital gains tax. I would love to hear if anyone else did research into this and found out the truth!

Theoretically, there should not be any as you described, but they still suggest seeking help from tax professional. In fact, the tax amount might not be a big deal, just if they send you a tax form at the end, and you found you already make 1000+ transaction on it and you need to fill them out!!! LOL

Sorry a little confused by a statement @ 3:00 “ unfortunately it does not let you select an asset on Coinbase…. Pro however” so if you could clarify what you meant that would be great please. Thanks for asking! What I meant by that is, while using your Coinbase card, you are allowed to use your coins on Coinbase to select them to use for purchases when you are using the card, but you cannot select your coins you have on Coinbase Pro. You do not need Coinbase Pro to use your Coinbase debit card because you can't use coins from Coinbase pro anyway. Hope that helps!

Ted thank you for the vid. Question. I’m a hodlr and have no interest in using any of my current crypto to make purchases in the near future due to tax implications but I am interested in using usdt. If I’m not mistaken I can transfer from a bank to usdt to spend with my CB card strictly to earn crypto gains and for the most part deposits into USDT are reportable but not taxable since there’s rarely any gains or losses with USDT?

Thank you for asking, so let me clarify: you are pretty much 90% spot on, but instead of USDT (Tether), you need to be getting USDC. Coinbase actually fees you for purchasing Tether as well. Make sure you are using USDC if you want to get rewards without fees and without hardly any capital gains tax

The flaw in this theory is with taxes. You’ll likely owe taxes on the cash back you get in Stellar Lumens.

This is an interesting theory. I think the IRS does not consider credit card rewards as taxable, so it may be the same situation with Coinbase Card rewards.

Any interest gained on property is still subject to capital gains. This card is just a debit card with Taxes attached. People are not thinking this through when applying for this card.

@@TedGetsBread Yes you would pay short term capital gains taxes if you convert to Bitcoin in less than a year. This would be the same rate as your income tax. If you hold it for a year then convert to Bitcoin it would be long term cap gains at a much lower rate. Still think converting XLM to BTC is the better option.

Because this is tied to your crypto account, your “account #” would basically be your crypto addresses that people can send to. It is not a traditional checking account.
