As a 50yr old man, you may think it strange I enjoy watching you unpack items for a dolls house. Actually, I've been waiting for this since you mentioned it in a previous video and I cant wait to see the continuation of your dolls house boxes, and the set up, once cleaned. So many unique old pieces, I didn't see a single one I didn't find fascinating in one way or another. The bouquet of flowers at the end and the little pets are my favorite if I had to choose any, they are all just fascinating!😊🥰💖

Hello ladies-this was amazing! I had no idea such things were made for 1920s dollhouses-this little girl must have been from a well-to-do family. It made me a little sad-my 95 year old mother was born into a very poor family-she had corncob dolls and made their furniture from rocks. She would have been awed by something like this. I love all of your videos-thank you! Sending you best wishes from West Virginia, US

Many of the smallest cookware items I have found here in the USA are made from copper. They are called penny art, and are done by prisoners. It's called penny art because they fashioned these little pots and pans from pennies. Fun to collect. Also they did tiny carved works out of toothpicks, ships and wooden spoons.

I really enjoyed looking through that wonderful box of tiny treasures with yu two. I think I shall have to make a we willy winky candlestick for my dolls house now. The tiny material flowers, if you brush them carefully with a paintbrush and gentley steam them over a boiling kettle or sausepan they will come back into shape but only try one as the middle bit may melt . I have some of those flowers in blue and pink. Thinjk they were forget me knots.

Having been a Curator of a Museum of Childhood I would vehemently advise against such action! These items should be carefully cleaned using methods the same as museums employ and with great care. A good Museum experienced in such childhood antique preservation would advise if requested.To repaint flowers on items of this age would be tantamount to putting new bandages on an Egyptian mummy! The damage and wear is part of the history of the item and the main aim of caretakers of such items is to take steps to prevent any further deterioration, and preserve the items. and their history for future generations.
@gracehennessey7722 жыл бұрын
@@kerriferguson2023 I can see your point if they are utilizing for a historical purpose. There are temporary paints that you can clean away if necessary. Maybe you could recommend some processes of bring some of these items back to their splendor.
@kerriferguson20232 жыл бұрын
@@gracehennessey772 Hello Grace. Thank you for your comment. Actually anyone who has worked in the area of antiques would already see the "splendor" in these items. The history of them, the patina, the story they tell of where they have been and how they were played with makes them quite unique as they are now. Actually I was a little unnerved by the way these items were being handled in the video (rolling them around between hands and fingers etc and listening to the clinking of the items against each other). I have the same Lines Brothers house in my own personal collection and treat her as the grand old lady she is. A pair of while cotton gloves should always be worn when dealing with items this old. Childhood antiques usually do not survive as well as other household antiques items due to the purpose they had - children played with them and sometimes quite roughly. This collection is quite unique and should be treated with great care and respect (hard to curb one's enthusiasm and excitement I know, but one has to consider how important they are!). Every item should be carefully catalogued (and if it were in my collection photographed as well!). None of us can take these items with us when we pass away and we are simply caretakers of them for the next generation and beyond. It is incumbent on us to take great care of them as they record social history for us in a special way. I would not use any temporary paints or any other product on them that changed the story they are already telling us and I am sure that any Museum Curator would agree. Good quality SOFT brushes and the most gentle of washing will be able to achieve the result that will preserve the integrity of the objects. And the most important tool will be immense patience as it is a a process that must be carried out with great patience no matter how long it takes to remove all traces of unwanted grime and dust. The nearest museum who has a collection of childhood items (especially dolls and dolls houses) should be only too happy to help with advice for these new owners.
