Great video, with my Nano I attached it to a tiny cutting board that came in a set, I also added the rubber potholder in between the two and also added shelf liner to the bottom of the cutting board, This makes it so quiet and stays put as I spin. I do have mine on that craft cart and don't need to tie it down. Once again thanks for your videos.

Great idea about putting a rubber potholder in between to absorb some of that vibration and sound. Great idea. Thank you!!

Hi Felicia! I saw someone put transparant suction cups for hanging tea towels or photo's, to attach the weel to a table. It still remains portable, but it doens't go anywhere when you don't want to :-)

I have mine attached to a small cutting board for portability. The ravelry group for the eel wheel nano has a lot of good suggestions for little tweaks.

As well as fastening the spinner to something as simple as a cutting board, you can use suction cups on very smooth worktops, or use drawer liner. You can also remove the end of the bobbin to pin the leader yarn in place. Great video content.

Hi Felicia, I have two eSpinner Nano's and the larger EEW 5.1 wheel. Cost for the larger wheel is about $260. Maurice Ribble, engineer and designer of the EEW Wheels has a new wheel coming out sometime this year. I learned to spin on the eWheel and really enjoy spinning on it. P.S. Can't wait for a class on e-spinning.

Use the USB cable that came with the Nano. It ups the power to 5.5 V from the standard 5V output. To stabilize it, try a piece of rubber shelf liner. There are many videos on KZbin with hints and tips for using it and making it more quiet. I've changed the hooks out on my Nano for some 3D printed ones that work better for me.

Interesting! Thanks for the suggestion. I didn’t even realize there were after market options... a whole new world...
@KristinMoran4 жыл бұрын
There are very active groups on Ravelry and Facebook for EEW spinners. Several people have come up with hacks, tips, and as already mentioned, after market parts for the e-spinners, especially the Nano.

I am just getting interested in spinning as an add on to weaving! Would this be good to spin more textured yarn? Like yarn art with those chubby sections?
@sweetgeorgia3 жыл бұрын
You could probably do it, but the orifice seems a little small for very chunky thick and thin yarns. But it’s possible :)
@michellerudy5044 жыл бұрын
Very interested in the plastic e-spinner. I had one (or 2) in 1989-1992. It had a problem, the motor overheated when I spun on it for 45-60 minutes, only stopping to add fiber or adjust the yarn guides. The e-spinner stopped dead and required a substantial cooling off period. The manufacturer contended that no one spins for 45 minutes at a clip. So, it would be interesting to know if the nano can survive a 45 minute spinning session. BTW, your take on the Sailing Sweater is really impressive. The yarn you chose gave the pattern mystery and depth.

I have had a Nano since January and just ordered another so I could teach my daughter to spin. I haven't had any overheating problems at all. I have spun for over an hour without taking a break. Definitely worth the small investment in my opinion especially if you are wanting an affordable option.

If you haven't found them already, there are magnets on the base under the bobbin to hold the orifice hook.

Diana Monaco yes I was yelling at the tv when she was talking about needing to tie it. The magnets the magnets! Lol if I hadn’t seen someone using one at a yarn festival last year I would have surely lost my orifice hook by now!

I have one but being completely honest I get frustrated with it and it needing fiddled with all time. Or needing to do hacks to keep it from walking all over and the tension band likes to vibrate and adjust itself. I wanted to love it because it’s so cute and the price point. But it just wasn’t so. I think mine is possibly a 🍋. I do know others that love theirs. Just my experience. I still think it’s darling.
@sweetgeorgia4 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s a really curious device. I can’t imagine spinning for long periods with it, but it will fulfill the needs of some spinners out there. Hope you are able to make yours work for you 😊
@PNWwonder4 жыл бұрын
SweetGeorgia I play with here and there. It's too cute not to. But we fight sometimes. I do try to keep in mind it's fairly new and I am sure overtime any bugs will get worked out. It's a wonderful concept and the price point makes it affordable to most.

Do you recommend learning to spin on e-spinner or the manual?
@sweetgeorgia4 жыл бұрын
I would still recommend a spindle. You have complete control over the speed, timing, and twist. Giving yourself the ability to “park and draft” when learning to spin is so handy. I find clicking the espinner on and off takes a second and can feel like you are juggling a bunch of things... I still suggest a spindle for learning ☺️

You can buy a cheap good quality drop spindle on Etsy for about 10 dollars with shipping, some cheap samplers for another 10 with shipping, learning a craft doesn’t have to be expensive and you shouldn’t really buy the best of the best anyways until you learn enough to where you don’t waste your materials and once you know you’re gonna keep up with the craft
@KristinMoran4 жыл бұрын
I borrowed another Nano owner's idea of using small suction cups as feet (they fit into the screw holes) which lifts it up for better airflow for the motor, and it sits on a silicone trivet, since I got that before the feet. I recently upgraded to the 1.1 motor, which is faster and more powerful than the 1.0 This is my current spinning project - Merino top: instagram.com/p/B-BmMyjJ6Fs/

Oohh, the e-spinner looks very neat. It would definitely need a way to be anchored down though.
@platedlizard4 жыл бұрын
I have one! i ended up putting screws into my workbench to hold it in place, there's holes in the base specifically made to lock it in place with that kind of set up. Once i did that it became very secure. You can also just tape it down with a bit of duct tape.
@kathleenkline46224 жыл бұрын
I have one that isn't anchored to anything and it works just fine. I usually run it off a battery and have taken it to get the oil changed in my car, to the park, to friends houses, etc. I have even spun with it while on my horse! In that case, I just put my left leg up over the saddlehorn, prop the Nano on it and spin. Fortunately, my horse is used to me doing strange things in the saddle...I knit while riding also😀
