I find it hilarious that in TTE, Class 40 and Caroline get name plates and a spot in the closing of certain episodes while Oliver never does. Truly hilarious. Class 40 barely even appears! 😂
@joshuariddensdale2126 Жыл бұрын
Class 40 was a one-shot character, but a memorable one. Like Diesel before him, Class 40 Diesel was very snobbish towards steam engines, thinking them a relic of the past while diesels are the future. Unlike Boco, who was a kind, hardworking diesel, but stern when he needed to be. Especially concerning Bill and Ben's antics. Only he and Edward could keep Bill and Ben in line.

Early cow this time Sam. The class 37 would be my fav. of the day although the class 40 is very nice. Be careful adding weight, I added weight to a loco once and it pulled the load beautifully but the motor got hot enough to melt the plastic around the armature bearings. David.
@SamsTrains7 жыл бұрын
Hi David, thanks very much for the comment - yeah I love those 37s too! Blimey, that sounds drastic - I'd never overload them with coaches though, and I added around 100g - it's still lighter than some other locos I have, but I'll bear that in mind! Cheers, Sam :)

Hi Sam, hope your well. The sound on the TTS 40 isn’t to bad for the price. As for the loco it’s self, it would need some serious modifications doing on it, especially on the nose ends, as they are to high. But like you said, it is a budget model (Ex Lima Body). I still may purchase one just to do the modifications, as I do believe it would look pretty good when stood next to my Bachman 40. Great review.

Must day this is my favourite loco! Just a couple of quick questions in regards to adding weights where exactly are the best to add weights? And also does it resolve problems going over Express points ie bouncing over them or getting stuck as if it's in a wheel spin? The points I used are Hornby R8078 00 Gauge Left ones
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Great to hear that Paul, they are fantastic! With these, I added them onto the chassis at each end, underneath the front windows! Generally speaking, you want to add the weights as low down as possible, it should improve traction and bouncing issues for the most part! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Sam, Have you ever thought of buying and reviewing Hornby's A1A-A1A? Joe
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe! No I haven't actually - is it any good?? If so, I may give it a try! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

@@SamsTrains I got mine from Hornby USA. It's the Railroad model but it came with the TTS decoder already installed. I enjoy running it, and once it gets going, the diesel engine gives way to the electric engine. In my experience, it's a pretty good puller, but none of my wagons have a load in them either.

Nice to see a Diesel review mate! Also, I've just purchased a station for my railway, what would you suggest would be the most suitable item to stick it together with?
@SamsTrains7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, thanks very much for that! Well if you're absolutely sure you won't want to take it apart again, I just use super glue! All the best, Sam :)

This was impressive in terms of it's performance ( that slow speed was amazing), The engines I believe were; A tri-ang Dock Shunter, Class 101, Class 47 (virgin), Class 101 in BR green with yellow panels, a class 30? and what I think is an inspection rail-car in yellow. Wasn't too sure about the locos for once, keep up the good work Cheers Avi
@SamsTrains7 жыл бұрын
Hi Avi, very well done on the whole - though one of those was the derby lightweight! Thanks for watching as always, Sam :)

Really nice loco, I like these types, especially the similar class 44/45/46s. I think it is the bogies I like on them. Are you planning on doing something similar to your diesel month again-i really enjoyed that?

Thanks a lot mate - yeah these are pretty awesome looking things! I doubt I'll do another diesel month this year - but I will keep showing diesels from time to time! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

40 164 was involved in a nasty (but ultimately, amusing) accident on Christmas Eve(!) 1977. The brakes failed coming into Glasgow Queen Street, and hit a rake of coaches - thankfully empty - that were being prepared for the train to Mallaig. The reason why it is amusing is that the only injury was a broken finger for the Driver, and the reason for the accident is fun - the wheels had been re-profiled, but they had failed to take into consideration what effect the re-profiling would have on the braking system.

If you're impressed by the Class 40.... you'll love the TTS Class 37, 47 & 67. They're as good if not better. Can you tell me more about this artwork stuff?? And lastly I remember telling you about the Class 90 last time. I just bought one myself... for £41 it was a steal. On second thoughts I should've sent it to you to review.
