I learned to tune on tuner pro flash tuning Volvo Bosch m4.4 the bin files and xdf files are out there for free and a 25$ cable and hours and hours of reading you can make some good power in a budget, the cool part was bringing the power pins up past 15v brings the ecm to boot mode

So crazy I learn so much daily when it comes to tuning I wish I had time to suck up all the knowledge that’s out there . I hope to see you dive into this further . Bflash works out more than kess, yea its expensive, but its not the most expensive, at this level youd have to be swapping files or tuning every day commercially to justify the cost. And if its a commercial purchase and your not using it yourself personally, (staff/employee) as in ''Inhouse tuner'' , your paying his wages, which is 3-4 times the cost of the kit, and then to make it reliable as a business you best have a dyno and logging equiptment, standalone wideband monitor. inductive clamps. and all other sorts of normal practice things. because the come backs from a ''Bad Tune'' for whatever reason, are expensive, both financially and reputationaly. Personally, unless your in a postition where, your thinking about the cost LAST, be it becuase your spending someone elses money for them (e.g your boss), or you started a business doing tuning with HPtuners and it took off and now you have a functioning Workshop, some staff of similar mindset and skills, youve got yaself a dyno room fitted and your getting customers/ Requests that HPTuners doesnt support, or parameters it doesnt have, things it cant do. same for the other similar interfaces where the GUI is easy to navigate and it has hints and tips to function. And Most importantly, Understand how Software and Computers work at least fundementaly, and have some prior experience with WinOLS. Kess,Bflash, cmd. WinOLS cant really compare directly to Kess itself, WinOLS is a binary/Hex editor, it Is the best providing you have the time to learn how to use it effectively,HPA Have Many courses covering everything related to this. with Kess your buying the hardware that connects and reads the blocks directly from the Microprocessor on the PCB of the ECU, and then you can Also purchase the software to do something with the HEXDump you just got from the ECU, its called ECM Titanium, its part of the ECM SUITE which is also used to configure the Kess Hardware Interface ( the grey box with leds on) in order to determine how your particular ECU or Module needs to be read, some vehicles you can do it all through the OBD2 port, some you have to pull the ECU out and jumper pins to allow debug or boot mode, like pressing F12 when your computer first switches on to get to your Bios or whatever, same thing, ECM suite has guides for most ECUs with images to tell/show you what pin to where. Some you have to physically open the case of the ecu with a heat gun and plastic trim pry or suitable gentle prying, and needle Like probes on certain Pins of the Microprocessor, also guides and images available within the ECM sofware. THEN... you can take this .bin file that you used ECM SUITE to read from the ECU Microprocessor, import into WinOLS along with .xdf File for that particular ECU , (Encompassing your OS number), The .xdf file is basically a map to tell WinOLS what patterns represent what, and what the floating variables are, scaling factors, It tell it which lines of code should be labelled what etc etc. Lets Say you buy the master hardaware + car protocols alone , Not the ECM Titanium or WinOLS or any other binary editing software at all..... You can still use ECM SUITE to read the file that will be saved as. (yourcar.bin). then you could use tunerpro or tunercat or any of them free ones to do tuning PROVIDING you have or can get from online somewhere by whatever means. the .XDF file for That ECU. Autotuner is a good middle ground option for anyone that falls inbetween just starting out, and tuning Baller.

its actually cheap you can spend 10k on a flashing tool without much effort.
