So glad they sent you the green goatskin as that’s the one I preordered. Hoping to receive it next week. As always, thank you for sharing Tim.

That green goatskin looks great, and the Topaz is a nice option for KJV readers. Its amazing to see all the premium innovation going on at the various publishers.

I'm probably a lone voice crying in the wilderness here, but I'd love to see Cambridge do a verse by verse Topaz in the New Living Translation. And regarding calf split bindings... I've had goatskin, calfskin and calf split premium Bible bindings and, even though they are less costly, I find calf split to be my favorite. I tend to hold my Bibles open with one hand while reading and so I enjoy the stiffness. Bibles with floppy goatskin bindings, while beautiful, always feel like they are going to fall out of my hand. I've also noticed that calf split bindings tend to soften up and become more supple over time, but still feel firm when holding with one hand.

I browsed the comments to see if anyone else asked this already and didn't see but do you know why Cambridge did not put the traditional seal on the spine, just above the name Cambridge? The previous KJV Bibles by Cambridge had this (although some vintage KJVs did not). Thanks.

Someone shared in the comments a statement from Cambridge that it was inadvertently left off, but it’s still inside.

The supplied words that were added by the translators are they in italics?
@eclipsesonic2 жыл бұрын
They are. If you look at 8:24 in the video, Matthew 16:14 reads: "And they said, Some _say that thou art_ John the Baptist..." The "say that thou art" is in italics. Hope that helps.

Would you ever consider doing a review on a KJV CBP “church Bible publishers” Water Buffalo Leather? Love to know your input on that Bible
@timwildsmith2 жыл бұрын
I picked up a couple of their Bibles at a used bookstore once, but I’ve never talked to them about a proper review.
@joelhernandez98232 жыл бұрын
Well I ask because I have seen a couple of Bible reviewers, review that Bible. Some of the reviewers you had about the topic of ribbons few days ago did a review on a CBP Buffalo leather Bible. So I was just asking because I just wanted to know your thoughts on their water Buffalo. Thank you for responding as well sir!

I just got the black goatskin. It is a lovely Bible. What do we make of their failure to include the Royal Seal on the spine? I can only assume this was a mistake in production and is a bit disappointing.
@timwildsmith2 жыл бұрын
It may have been omitted inadvertently, but the Royal Arms are inside the Bibles on the imprint pages, as well as on the boxes.
@georgebarlow37242 жыл бұрын
I think it's a real shame that has been missed off. It's the official AV. It should have it

@@timwildsmith update from Cambridge Bibles. … “Due to an oversight, the Royal Arms were inadvertently not included on the spine blocking of the recently published KJV Topaz Reference Bibles. The error will be rectified in future productions as the various binding styles come up for rebinding. The Royal Arms appear in their proper place on the imprint/copyright page in all styles of the edition. The Royal Arms denote Cambridge University Press’ position as The Queen’s Printer.”
