Good review. When I got the promo email from Rode, I was excited - finally a nice desktop mic stand for my studio; get rid of my Elgato LP stands and get two of these. Once I discovered the price - no chance, I was expecting around £47 ($60), but at £84.99 ($106). It's just a few pounds short of the Podmic itself. Definitely not worth the cost.

I’m trying to decide for a mic arm and am currently thinking of getting the Elgato LP, what is making you wanting to get rid of it?

@@Szystedt I actually ended up returning it. I just didn’t feel it was beneficial enough for my workspace to spend $95 on it. My OnStage and Samson MD5 stands get the job done. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Elgato LP. For boom arm I feel LP is a great option

@@Szystedt oh no, don't get me wrong I would highly recommend the Elgato LP - amazing mic stands. Just for me, it's easier for regular stands that I can just move onto my shelves and back when I'm using them as I do podcasts and their either solo or more people, also, I'm looking for stands that are easily transportable, allowing me to go on location. If you have a fixed location - theb the Elgato LP is an amazing stand - totally love it and so much better than the overhanging desk stands.

Samson MD5 is on sale at the moment for $15. Usually $20. The one I’m using in this video the Onstage DS7200B goes for about $18. Hope this helps!

Your mic will come with the adaptor needed that's why Rode didn't include it I guess, but for the price, it should be included

Ordered the TDS with intention to unbox and make a video. I have never returned a product so quickly. It was frustrating to use. Sorry I couldnt make the video

I just found one of those mic stand demo-ed by the company and I can understand why you returned it. Especially at that price. But that being said, check out the Triad-Orbit Micro M2-R Retrofit Short Stem Orbital Mic Adapter (that's a mouthful). It is basically a ball head to attach to the end of a mic stand. And they have a pretty cool mic quick-change system as well. I picked up a different version with the ball head but made for use with one of the quick change system and I love it. A bit pricey but still kind of cool. The quick change system with ball head on a $15 Auray mic stand works great for me and totals in at $80, still under the $100 price tag of their stand, and if you have a mic stand already, it's cheaper still. I think one of those mic stands they sell would only be good if you are on the road. I'm tempted to make a video one day just to show how I am using them in a bit of an unconventional way.@@Theelockerroom
