I’ve owned a Snap Studio for several years. I was never really that impressed with it until a friend told me to order an extra set of blankets. Now there’s about an inch of padding. HUGE difference!

I really like this studio Earl. Not only that, I like your presentation of it. Can't tell you enough how frustrating it can be to want to record (in our shared walk-in closet) late at night, but can't because my wife is sleeping. Looking forward to having that additional recording space! Great job! I'm excited with you!

Looks like you got the XL version? How easy is it for others to hear you from another room when you're in the booth? My biggest issue is that I don't like singing when I'm monitoring music in my headphones yet people in the house just hear me singing acapella as I try out ideas. Really throws me off. Thanks. Good vid! You were sweating quite a bit there!

Thanks for this thorough review!! If I could ask a super specific question - my neighbor's window AC unit is always running in the next apartment and the low hum is audible in the room where I would have the Snap Studio. Will this studio dampen that enough? Thanks!

Definitely an interesting set up. I think I might pass out though as I sweat profusely just walking to the mailbox on a 75 degree day. I have always been a heavy sweater! LOL! Just curious Earl as to why you didn't use your favorite mic (Synco D2) in the demo that you previously proclaimed as your new go-to mic for all voice over work? Is it because you had it already setup in its current spot?
@EarlHallStudio
@EarlHallStudio Жыл бұрын
Yes. Definitely a lot of sweating LOL. I put the MKH-416 in the booth because it is the best mic I own. The Synco has been my got mic for a while but with this new set up I simply wanted to use my best as we all should 😊

@@EarlHallStudio Fair enough Earl! Sorry if I came across as snarky...It's often so hard to try and follow many of the professional VO guys on KZbin these days when as a new guy trying to sort things out I'm trying to take advice and absorb as much as I can but seeing these mic reviews just pouring in from SO MANY point of views and changing with the next new mic can be so frustrating. What I HAVE learned though and what I have decided to do is to find a guy that has a voice similar to mine, see what they use, how they use it, why they use it and how it translates and aligns with my current budget and needs. I settled on you Earl as I think you are not only a top notch voice talent, but also a guy that is down to earth, approachable and honest! You don't brag, you don't talk down to people that potentially are trying to figure things out and you seemingly LOVE to share your knowledge! I own just two mics,...(don't laugh) My workhorse that I have used for my own little podcast show for a while,..the Blue Yeti...and I have received so many compliments on how I sound on it...which honestly makes me chuckle....AND now my recent acquisition acquired from a dude who sold it to me really cheap and that is an EV RE20. I will be also using that this summer for the podcast. I'm still playing with some settings in Audacity to get it how I like it and I'm close! It seems to be a solid mic. So basically I just do what I can afford to do and might even one day try and pursue VO work. I have a voice that is somewhat bassy and I keep thinking there is a mic out there that will embrace that sound WITHOUT a ton of Post processing involved since that is NOT where I like to spend my time. The search will likely continue unless I can find a way to make the RE20 work. I just wish there was a mic that worked great for my voice out of the box OR with MINIMAL processing in post. Plus,...Audacity can be a bit weird for me to work in at times. For now I have a simple Scarlett Solo and Cloud lifter that the RE20 feeds into and I have a few settings in Audacity that I use after I record my interviews with the mic. There are several settings and again the result is about 90% there. Sorry I rambled on here. Thanks for being you! I really enjoy your content and reviews! Oh and the fact that you were sweating after that booth set up only reassured me that I'm following the right guy! I was laughing WITH you since I too would have been dripping like a faucet! Kindred spirits!

@@anthonyvivianlanius1295 Anthony, please do! I would love to see how you both manage it as my issue down here in the armpit of the south is ALWAYS how I can stay cool in the summer months during a one hour interview in a confined space on a third floor attic studio. My strategy is to drop the temp with my A/C that I have up there to REALLY CHILLED.....then cut it off one minute or so before the podcast interview. Needless to say....between my natural hot blooded nature and my nerves,..I'm still soaked with sweat by the 30 minute mark. LUCKILY these are audio only interviews! I cannot imagine what I would look like in that snap sauna booth. LOL! Keep me posted please! My RE20 is a fabulous mic though and does really well in keeping outside noise out so I wonder if I could create some kind of hose that pulls in the A/C air and funnels it up from the bottom of the snap studio>>>>hmmmmm.

Do you know if this has any noticeable impact in the amount of sound that makes its way OUT of the booth? My apartment has some pretty thin walls, and I'm not necessarily yelling in any of my videos, but it would be nice to know that my upstairs neighbors don't have to hear me record the same line 6 times in a row.
@EarlHallStudio
@EarlHallStudio Жыл бұрын
I actually don’t have an idea about that as I don’t have that same issue as you. However if you get it ask your neighbors if it is working for them or not. You can always return it if it does not fit your specific use case. Let me know how it goes

@@EarlHallStudio Good to know. I figure it's a good enough investment on its own as is, I'll probably pick one up once I get my first KZbin payout. I figure if it ends up not blocking enough outward noise, I can double up on the moving blankets around it. I'll make sure to come back to this video once I actually have one setup.

Hello, thank you for the video! I just have a question, how much space would you say there is in there? Would there be enough for a mini table for a laptop or a chair to sit down while recording? (I know there's a XL version, maybe that would be better?
