I remember the Christmas my older brother received the Master System. I remember playing Double Dragon, Shinobi, Thunder Blade, etc. There was also a “hidden game” that you didn’t need a cartridge for. It involved pressing certain buttons at the load up screen.. You’d hit up + both buttons and it would bring up a snail game similar to Pac-Man.

The Sega Master System was actually released to compete with the original NES. It did pretty well outside of the states but didn't really make a mark inside the states until they released the Genesis and bundled it with Sonic. Then of course Sega blew up.

It's crazy how those Sega Cards were just like the Hue Cards used on the Turbografix16/PCengine. The Master System only had around 40 games produces using the cards. Amazing Pickup...

You are actually spot on with the Sega Master System. Complete in box that will go from anywhere near 150 to 300 dollars. Another thing you might (once again) keep an eye out for is old CRT Sony Trinitron TV's. Those are sought after by the people who actually play on these old systems and those specific TV's are changing hands for more and more money...

I own a Zenith Space Command TV which I was told was used by gamers, do you know anything about it?
@dnandez79
@dnandez79 Жыл бұрын
@@thetwotravelers546 the Zenith Space Command TV was the first wireless remote controlled tv. The remote did not have batteries and it didnt use beams of light to operate. Inside the remote control were metal rods and a hammer. When you pushed the button, the hammer would drop and hit the rod. When the rod was struck it created an ultrasonic ping that would tell the tv to turn off, on, volume control and switch channels. The Space Command TV is the reason people used to call remote controls a "clicker".

Just subbed, was one of those watchers not subbed. The stats I heard was 7 out of 10 people suffer from mental illness in their lives...and I always add that the other 3 include a narcissist, the other is in a dream world, and the other is in denial. We all have mental health challenges/illness at some point, when it comes down to it. Some are just more extreme than others. I personally deal with ADHD and PTSD.

The saga master system has two build in games if i remember one is duck hunt and other was , and there is a secret game you do with the joypads to get a maze, Built-in games are common in Master System hardware, including Snail Maze and Hang-On, as well as Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Sonic the Hedgehog. Additional games were released in Brazil by Tectoy, including ports of Street Fighter II and Dynamite Headdy after the Master System was discontinued elsewhere.

Master System is very regular here in Europe. It was Sega's version of the Nintendo NES console. There's also a light gun for the master system and 3D glasses (but they were rubbish). I'm surprised you never came across one before. The Master system 2 is a more form factor version and looked like a cuter version of the Negative/Genesis. Those Q card games weren't a big thing over here, defo bigger in the Asian market. Great bundle all the same.

Wow this brings back memories! I had a Master System growing up. All my friends had a Nintendo so I guess I had to be different. I believe what you have is a second edition bundle as the original came with the phaser gun. One of the unique things about the original bundle was it had two games internally programmed to boot up when the system was turned on, a Safari game created to compete with Duck Hunt and a motorcycle game, I think called Hang-On? Can't believe how mint that all is. You've got some great classics as well with Penguin Land, Alex Kidd, Phantasy Star, King's Quest, and Monster Boy. This brought up a lot of fun memories, thanks for sharing! Oh and those card games were interesting. I had tennis one and something else but I never played those as much as the cartridge ones.

The ability of the NES to interface with extra mapper etc. chips in the cartridges and Nintendo's iron grip on third-parties releasing games on the NES (they weren't allowed to port to other platforms) pretty much killed the SMS' chances in the market, unfortunately. A shame, because while I didn't have one, it was on paper (at least the base specs) more capable than the NES with a better CPU, more onscreen colors and a more advanced sound chip.
