Here's my 3rd vinyl unboxing, and this time I'm taking on Winger's 1988-1993 Vinyl Box Set! Talk about a band that deserved better treatment. Check it out!

I have mad respect for Kip Winger. Dude carried on his dream and continued composing music with larger musician groups.

all while having his wife die in a terrible car accident, his music shit on by the masses for the sake of a cartoon...i agree. the guy has steel character, and is amazing to his fans as well. good dude.

The musicianship in Winger is off of the charts. What an amazing band. Winger never disappoints!!!

We LOVE Charlie! She is a cutie man….Great unboxing! I ran into Kip at the NAMM show when “PULL” was out and Grunge was just coming in with a vengeance. He asked me what I thought of the record, and instead of saying it was great I said “Okay “. Kip laughed and said “You have to smoke some pot and listen to it” you will like it more. 😮

I absolutely love Winger! Been a huge fan since their first album came in 1988 at ten years old. I still bought this boxset even though I already had them because these are remastered. They sound amazing. I love all seven of their studio albums big time. In my opinion they don't have any weak albums. My favorites are Karma, Seven, Pull, and Better Days Comin'. Winger did not deserve the crap they got from Metallica and Beavis And Butthead at all. I got picked on in Middle school and Highschool for being a Winger fan, but I didn't care. Still a huge fan to this day. I have met Kip Winger and Reb Beach and both were very cool.

I swear as good as Winger is they have never shed that underappreciated and underrated stigma. Every time I go back to them I like their stuff more and more. Maybe they were just a bit ahead of their time. Or maybe they were too clean. Seems like all the big names of the era had some kind of drama, haha. Cool vid, thanks guru!

I appreciate you, Bro! I need to spend more time with the recent Winger albums--I've been kind of a shitty fan about their stuff after Pull... I hear a lot of good stuff about the last couple albums, and I've barely listened to 'em.

Thanks for checking this one out, love mine, the vinyl sounds amazing. I've been looking at the WASP '7 Savage' box set recently, seems badass, just a bit on the pricey side, so hopefully it goes on sale, lol

Yeah I got that album earlier last year and agree it's a great album. Pickup Wildside and Kik Tracee if you dont have them.

When it happened I didn't give Winger a chance but now I love the band and have bought this box set on CD thanks to Guru speaking highly of them. And I continue loving when you shit on the Mötley box set. 😂

Since you’re doing box set videos do you ever think poison is ever going to come out with a vinyl box set

Winger was talented. Probably just where he was a heart throb for the ladies makes people soft on admitting it. Just remember if he wasn't Alice Cooper wouldn't have kept him around until he thought he should start his own band. Like the Box set.

Hey man, if you haven't yet, get the GnR Appetite box set. It's really cool!

The Purple Haze cover was great because it was its own interpretation, had groove, had prog. People shouldn't be so stuck in puritanism. I have the original Jimi albums too and nobody can emulate the soul fingerprint, the magic of Jimi himself. And so everyone is better off just doing the covers in their own way. Even if I didn't know Purple Haze was Jimi's song I know I'd enjoy Winger's version same as with the other songs and that's the criteria for me.

I'd love to see you do a best of Winger episode. I feel their sound evolved a bit past hair metal, but even today those elements are still there. Hell there's at least 3 amazing killer songs on every album imo. I feel they didn't get nearly the recognition they deserve.

great video guru! $83 dollars? DAMN! nice score I completely agree with you, Winger is such an underrated band. Arguably the most talented band to come out of that era. The musical pedigree of every band member is absolutely off the charts. I'm really hoping they come to Toronto at some point, meeting Kip Winger is on my bucket list!
@johnkatsoudas47677 күн бұрын
Definitely agree with you. I hope that you do get to meet Kip one day. He is a very cool guy.

loved the first three winger albums. pull is freakin' treasure of a record. i remember hearing down incognito on the radio during metal shop my sophomore year of high school, and watching the rocker kids in the class all banging their heads. i loved it... winger is the example of something that people would love if they heard it, then hated when they found out who it was. from 1993-2000, people in our age group were the most fickel music fans on the planet. it was aggravating, and gave careers to music that had zero in the way of talent, just because they trashed hair bands and wore a wallet chain.

Totally agree, "Pull" is my favorite album of theirs too. I really like all seven Winger albums, they have been pretty consistent over the years, but for some reason I don't listen to them as much as other bands from the genre
@HairMetalGuru4195 күн бұрын
I'm right with you, Matt. Love Pull, but I was never one to spend a bunch of time with most Winger albums. And I hear a lot of great stuff about the recent Winger albums, but I haven't listened to very much of that stuff--I need to get on it. Appreciate you, Bro! And I know we are FB friends, so let's chat about a video

Motley , really since they started that Crue Fest Shitsaster , have been one giant money grab . The Dirt (Book) was their last great production . Something happen , Back in early 2000s when VH1 started the Behind the Music series , It launched a rebirth , but not sure in a good way. Anyway , Winger were as gifted as you will find , got damn Beavis and Butthead ..
@toddgambrel43166 күн бұрын
We all agree Pull is the best. Blind Revolution Mad is my favorite on the album. Wierd fact about me? Better Days Coming is my second favorite Winger Album

Winger kicks ass !! I mean if you like rock n roll how can you NOT dig Reb Beach’s guitar playing and Rod Morgenstein on drums ? Kip on bass singing his ass off .. such a killer band and very unique and underrated as they brought a prog rock feel to their music especially from their second album forward .. still the best band I’ve ever seen live
@randymoran676 күн бұрын
i can here Beavis and butthead now lmfao !

For me that's a good price _if_ that would include postal costs, but it doesn't. It's a collector product, an investment I guess. Seems the demos are the only thing that is really desirable. Photos of magazines and lyrics is to me generic and non-interesting. Their personal pages can't contain much. If I did it, I'd include a CD with interviews/monologues or something like a short biography or "the making of xyz commentary". Is it better or on par with common box sets - probably? Looks nice. Ok, so I listened to Paul Aston's review where he says the remastering really makes a difference compared to the otiginals. This might be the deciding factor. His only complaint was that 2 songs of that era, which are as bonuses on a compilation album, haven't been included.

Pull I believe was a mixture of the first two album in some ways. the lyrics were a bit more mature and less cheesy. it a bit more balanced.

I'm sorry but Winger was just begging for it with that aesthetic and presentation. Yes they are fantastic musicians and their stuff isn't easy to play but even by 80's standards they looked ridiculous. And BTW Hetfield has apologized to Kip about the NEM video.
@lukejbarnett15 күн бұрын
You're running out of material and topics. I noticed this in your video on non hair metal. And you did it again with another video about non hair metal. You shouldn't make non hair metal videos because your channel is about hair metal.
