Muiral (referred to as "Murial" on the base of the mini) is Halaster's ex-bodyguard and later one of his apprentices from The Ruins Of Undermountain and it's sequel Ruins Of Undermountain II. His name is just miss-spelled on the mini. I think it's an awesome mini and definitely worthy as a representation of "Muiral the Misshapen". :-)

I love when I get invisible minis in boosters. They beg for a paint job. i prefer unpainted minis. Good news is, I don't care for the prepainted paint jobs and usually prime and repaint to my own preference. You got a great brick. It's the third I've seen unboxed this run. You got the best of the three by far.
@br0adsw0rd655 жыл бұрын
Since one usualy doesn't buy pre painted minis to paint them, nobody likes the "invisible" ones. Otto's a tiny Fairy Dragon, but the Characters 'll be all shrinked to miniature size when they meet him, that why he's so huge.

Hey dude, thanks for the video, often your unboxings are the only previews of these we ever get - and the mini collector community is VERY hungry for previews. Thanks for showing the bottom of the mini too this time so we can see the names and numbers! I gotta ask, how do you get these? Wizkids or WotC are the ones who sends you the brick? Just curious which company actually cares about previews. About the things you asked, since I read the adventure I can reply. ;) -Trobriand is Trobriand, the Metal Mage - he is a classic 2E D&D character, and one of the apprentices of the mad mage, Halaster. He transferred his mind to an Iron Golem, hence why you see him slinging fireballs. -Otto is indeed a fey/dragon crossbreed... he is a Faerie Dragon! There is a level of the dungeon where you get shrunken down in a miniature castle while Otto stays the same size, so while generally Faerie Dragons are Tiny, now he is Large. :) -Muiral is another apprentice of the Mad Mage, he was a fighter though who learned some magic. He turned himself into a human-scorpion crossbreed, more better known as Tlincalli. -The Scaladar is one of the creations of Trobriand. They are scorpion-like constructs that can shoot lightning. -Flying Swords are animated objects, plus you can also get them from the Mordenkainen's Sword spell, the adventure has a lot of rooms where the swords on the wall are these. -Tanarukks are demonic orcs. They aren't a new thing, we have an old mini of these from the WotC series too. There are also a ton of Intellect Devourers in the adventure (Mind Flayers breed them and send them up the levels) so I guess that is why we get a reprint of the same mini from Storm King's Thunder? Odd still.

Thanks for all the info! I remember Undermountain from back in the day, but only vaguely. So, thanks for filling in the details on the figures I didn't recognize! I need to get the book off my shelf and read it. Nerds on Earth has a lot of readers, so we get lots of stuff from lots of different publishers and distributors. Our bread and butter is written content; since miniatures are so visual, it's one of the few things we do on KZbin. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the minis!
@commanderbbshockwave86985 жыл бұрын
@@Nerdsonearth You are welcome! And yeah this is a very different version of Undermountain, they had the levels thematically written around various scenarios - there is a level for Halaster's apprentices, a level with access to the Astral Plane with githyanki, a drow battleground, a junkyard for Trobriand's constructs, etc. Are you going to unbox more bricks, or you only got this one?

Tanarukk is a half-orc, half-tanar'ri (demon). I'm guessing its meant to be a portmanteau of tanar-orc. Dates back to third edition. Their present incarnation, like many of these monsters in this set, is from Volo's Guide to Monsters. Thanks for showing off your set!

Yep, guess he did not notice it. Since Storm King's Thunder they do this "repaint/remold" duplication of Commons at Uncommon level, likely to offset the making costs of Huge minis.

Nah, they do not grow in size as they age, they only gain more spells and hit dice. :) He is actually still tiny, but in the adventure you encounter him inside a miniature castle that shrinks visitors down - except certain creatures. So when you are the size of ants, a Faerie Dragon that is the size of a cat is HUGE to you. :)

Will they never stop making those stupid invisible figures??? Who wants these invisible ones? It seems like nobody. Literally no one. They serve almost no purpose and don't even make sense a lot of the time. Like, there is an ultra rare invisible tiefling battlemaster in this. That class and race combo has nothing to even make you invisible. I'd be so pissed if that was my rare. I never hear anyone saying, "Wow, I want to get these painted miniatures so I can have an unpainted one if I'm lucky!". WHO ARE THESE FOR?!?!?
@GunmanJag5 жыл бұрын
P.S. Great video lol
@commanderbbshockwave86985 жыл бұрын
Yeah, most of the invisibles are stupid and serve no purpose - they used to make sense on creatures like the Faerie Dragon or Phase Spider, and of course thieves and rogues and wizards, but why a fighter... But don't worry, they do not replace your Rare. You are guaranteed to get 2 Medium Rares in every brick (8 boosters). Invisibles replace a Common in a booster, so they are just extras. I mostly sell or trade mine, but they don't fetch as much as they used to.
@GunmanJag5 жыл бұрын
@@commanderbbshockwave8698 Goo to know that they don't waste the rare slot then. I can't believe they keep making them, especially for minis that don't make sense. I remember some of the early ones were kind of an interesting concept, but they push it too far. My guess is they are way cheaper to produce so they keep crankin them out
@commanderbbshockwave86985 жыл бұрын
@@GunmanJag I just realized, they did not make one for the ONE creature in this set where it would make sense, Otto the Faerie Dragon! I mean he can turn invisible at will and mostly stays that way... you'd think he would be the one invisible they would not have to think twice about.
@nickbaldino15905 жыл бұрын
You can paint them (invisibles). Got a strahd and a acererack on Ebay for a third of what pre painted went for and my cousin painted them.
