I agree. I'm hoping that once I experiment with the new mics that I'll learn how to minimize the additional noise which I guess is a consequence of being able to turn up the mic gain. Subscribers wanted more volume, now let's see if I can deliver an acceptable balance between the two. I'm hoping the Fostex AR-4i will do what I want. My goal, perhaps not realistic, is to upload straight from my iPhone without having to manipulate on a computer first. Thanks for watching:)

Great! I'm on the right track. Now I just need to figure experiment to get the most out of the new audio interface. Thanks for watching:)

Thanks for the suggestions. I can set a low pass filter as low as 80 Hz, but the AR-4i doesn't have the high pass filter option. I may end up wishing I 'd gone with the Tascam iU2 and a couple of large condenser mics but will keep experimenting with the Fostex AR-4i for now.

I agree that the noise level has probably gone up. A few points though: The setup is not binaural. Binaural recording involves some kind of approximation of the effect that human head and outer ear has on the incoming sound waves. This is typically done either by using a dummy head with microphones in it, or by mounting microphones inside the ears of an actual human being. So in essence: just using two microphones does not make the recording binaural.

if you have a bandpass filter option, set the range of the freq between 80 Hz and 12/15000 KHz and it will be just the same as setting a low pass and high pass filter........or, u can apply filters in postproduction, using audio editing (free) tools like AUDACITY.

The binaural mics are cool, but there is a lot more white noise now.

using such editing softwares will also give you access to many presets that might do the trick with small efforts. (just experiment). also you will be able to use the "normalize" function (aka "expand" or "maximize"). such functions will set your audio level to the max headroom possible, hence compensating any loss of signal level occurred during the recording, but without digital clipping (cranking sound).

Additionally: general background noise isn't to be equated with white noise. White noise is a particular kind of noise. To quote Wikipedia: "White noise is a random signal (or process) with a flat power spectral density." In other words: noise has to have a flat power distribution over all frequencies to be considered white noise. That is not the case with the background noise in this video.

set an high pass filter at 40 Hz to get rid of the unwanted low freq rumbles and hums, and set a low pass filter at around 15KHz (even 12Khz, just try) to get rid of the high freq hisses....the higher the preamps level, the higher the hiss but the louder the playback volume.....quality preamps r the key to success).

The audio quality sounds very good to me. The only thing I'm noticing is the faint sound of what I assume is a laptop/computer fan? It doesn't sound like digital noise to me, it sounds like a fan. Idk. Either way, it's not distracting and the detail of your unboxing sounds is very good. :)

Every time I watch one of your videos I think, "If only he had a better mic..." Finally! Thanks for the investment! I bet the views will increase as a direct result of the increased detail in the audio. :)

Yeah, well, at least "fucking noise" would have been more correct.
