Between the Barbies and teddy fresh wardrobe I can’t decide what I’m more jealous of! It must be the nostalgic kitschy style of their fashions since I know many doll collectors who are also TF enthusiasts including me lol. Was so bummed when they didn’t do anything for the Barbie movie but choosing to partner with Trixie mattel instead had my pockets begging for mercy😅 Haha sorry for the ramble it’s exciting when favorite worlds collide!

Hey there. It’s a pretty fair price. I think the outfit with the belt could probably be found on eBay for about 15-30. I’d look there before buying and see if you can find one closer to complete and compare the total cost first. ❤️❤️

Hey guys. Nice to see you back Cole. I bought the entire Animal Lovin series when it came out. My favorites are the Zebra and the Giraffe. They were so much fun to play with and display. You can't find the Ken from that series because he was featured in Toy Story. And the price is crazy for that doll because he was in that movie!

My sons are about your age and yep, at any given time we had mice, hamsters, lizards, finches, rabbits, cats, dogs, turtles, snakes, hermit crabs, or fish… We did have good animal husbandry standards and I have to say my boys are both so good with animals to this day! Love your channel!

I'm not a fan of the Kira face sculpt, but I really want the Western Fun Kira outfit - it is so pretty and fancy! I appreciate your info about the Astronaut Barbie - as I never understood her ridiculously inaccurate outfit. Don't get me wrong - she looks fabulous! - but should have been marketed as "space explorer" or something as she's more sci-fi than science.

I was in elementary school when the Challenger blew up. I was aspiring to be an astronaut at the time. We had read about the space shuttle and the first teacher going into space and we were all excited. All the kids at school were watching the blast off live on a tv when it blew up. I was kinda young and didn’t fully understand what had just happened, but all of our teachers were crying.

we were watching it live in the school gym when I was 9 I remember the teacher running up to the huge tv screen and shutting it off we were like that wasn't supposed to happen was it, there was so much coverage of it inside of the school previous because of Christa Maculliffe she did interviews with classrooms around the country and our class actually was way invested and we were shocked when it exploded

Just for giggles I checked what $11 in 1985 was worth today: $32! Yeah that was a little pricey for the set. The astronaut Barbie’s outfit was giving me 1970’s Wonder Woman vibes with that little skirt. So cute!

I have two dolls from the 80s, that exact same astro Barbie and that insane Barbie and the Rockers Ken lol Both were sticky when I unboxed them, but the sticky film does wash off. I couldn’t deal with that sad ponytail on Astro Barbie, so I conditioned and fluffed out those gorgeous curls! I’ve been buying the Astro fashions in pieces out-of-box since it’s WAY cheaper, and they actually mix and match pretty well! Oh and Cole talking about the knees-girl, they’re 40 years old; they have arthritis! 😂

I just dug my Western Fun Barbie out of storage! Great minds think alike - I'll be dropping a video about her soon. I promise I'm not copying you! Yeah - not everyone could afford every line of these dolls. I was a teen when these came out and was actively collecting. My strategy was to buy one example that I liked the most from each line. Usually I'd wait until they went on clearance to buy. I'm DYING to get an astronaut Barbie - great choice on all three! You guys are great - your vibe, your choice of dolls - everything is just the best!

80s kids had a lot of weird ass Pets we had snakes and many many gerbils and hamsters my bros had tarantulas dogs and outdoor rabbits and cats like my mom was a single mom and my bros would bring home with snakes and spiders and my mom truly did not have the energy to be like NOPE she would just be like oh you have a big spider in your room? NP KEWL KEWL we were a truly self-raised generation.....I have also had a pet rat because I was so punk rock in the 90s I want another Rat and I would name him Finnegan

my take on the whole "youd gasp and awe at these dolls, at what theyre wearing" most would never even think this, nor admit but - barbie used to be edgy? i mean that in a non-literal way, but she was obviously saturated in pink gaudy-ness head to toe, but none of her fashions and her collections were overly dumbed down to appear toddler friendly? like the over-saturation of mermaid and princess barbies now, the whole dreamtopia chelsea nonsense with the rainbows and the icecreams and the unicorns. that's insanely kindergarten, even when they matured her a little with Extra it came across as a jojo siwa sugar rush. just looking at western fun and animal lovin... they didnt need to treat little girls like they were 3, barbie happened to have somewhat girly outfits that just happened to be in pink - and that was it. it didnt need to be a coke induced hallucination for kids. there was a tiny level of maturity to these older releases shockingly.

For sure! In the beginning Barbie mostly wore the most sophisticated, fashionable clothing ever and following real fashion trends and dressing like an adult is a big part of her appeal throughout the decades. They did go nuts with the mermaids and princess stuff eventually but I think a lot of kids respond to real world clothing in a positive way. 🙌🏻❤️❤️
