The audio sounds extremely compressed, like a typical cheap mic. I was expecting better quality from an $80 microphone.

Indeed. Not only compressed, also tinny. I bought this mic because I wanted a dynamic microphone for less ambient noise pickup. But it sounds just awful. It's marketed as a microphone that could be uses by gym teachers... It's so heavy I can't see anyone doing actual gymnastics with this thing on.

@@ElectroTutoriales It's a dynamic microphone, so it's inherently going to have that compressed 'broadcast' sound. You'd need a condenser mic if you want true-to-life sound, although this would come with more ambient noise pickup. The best choice for noise rejection and clean audio would be a cardioid direct-address condenser mic, like a Rode Procaster or similar.

@@ClipsByMiles I use a Rode Podcaster for most of my videos nowadays. It sounds nice. At the beginning I used an AT2020 which sounds better IMO, but I could hear people walking on the sidewalk. With the window closed. From a 2nd floor! The Podcaster made it a lot easier to process audio. Recently I bought a Videomicro and I'm surprised at how well it rejects sound from the back. I'm going to try it on top of the monitor and see what the results are.
