Unbroken Featurette - An Inside Look (2014) - Angelina Jolie Movie HD
An epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII-only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Wow this looks incredible. It's hard to believe that somebody was able to endure so much throughout their lifetime, but that is something that can give hope to so many people. I can see Angelina has so much passion for the telling of this story and I love how much thought has gone into the casting too- which will no doubt make for a phenomenal film that does Louie's life justice.

@ 정성엽 It sure does. My father and four other uncles were as "prisoners of war" according to Japanese standards, working as beaten slaves at the Burma rail road, in Nagasaki, and in Nagao, my grandmothers, aunts (some as their whores), uncles, elder brothers and sisters in Japanese camps where some died, for the glory of emperor Hirohito. There is never to make a perfect movie about all this. My whole childhood I grew up with their trauma's....you bet I am cheering for this film. Not once did Japan make an excuse but we don't care and we also don't want their money for the victims are the ones who can be proud and don't need anything from Japan.

I just finished the book. It was one of the few I,ve read from cover to cover & didn't quit until the last page was turned. The things Imperial Japan did to expand their empire happened, the things the Allies did to bring that war to its conclusion happened. Louie Zamperini has earned the right to tell his story. I believe the movie "Unbroken" will do its job and tell that story with a great degree of accuracy....

It would bring her to tears she's a very caring and emotional strong women. And with her own words. The love and respect is the point. This film teaches everyone around them that you need to respect and be strong but how could you be as strong as this man that achieved so much the actors really took form.

My grandfather fought the Germans in Cairo against Rommel, then was sent to fight the Japanese in Kokoda. The stories he told me about what the Japanese did are absolutely appalling... The things he described to me made this movie seem not so bad. And now growing up I discover that they deny most of it and that most Japanese civilians aren't taught about what their ancestors did. OUTRAGEOUS!! We went to a war memorial years before he died and a Japanese man greeted us at the door; I've never seen such hate and discussed for a man as I did in my grandfather. He tapped his cane on his wheelchair with his head healed high and didn't bother acknowledging the fellow.

+CountBifford As a Japanese American it is important that Japan does NOT forget the brutality of our past. We MUST acknowledge the history of our actions so that they are never repeated. There are some who privately still believe that the actions were correct and just, and others who don't / won't admit the atrocities such as Nanjing. Both of my Grandfathers fought one another during the war and both lived long enough to tell me about it.

+Arch Angel I've often wondered something: I'm Japanese-Australian and I was educated in both countries. My time in high school was based in Australia, so I learnt the Australian version of World War II. I do appreciate that Aussie history books didn't glorify any parties involved in the war, but I often felt the difference between myself and the others because of my Japanese ethnicity, which made confronting history awkward for me. I've often wondered what it was like for others of a particular ancestry learning the history of war in "the enemy's" land. You being a Japanese-American, do you mind sharing?

Everyone should stop fighting, please... this is what the movie about - about forgiveness. In this movie, nobody accuse Japanese, in opposite... the message Miyavi was trying to deliver is that Watanabe was just a person, who had his strong and weak sides, and isn't it a good sign in a way? If Louis and Watanabe met in another situation, they probably could be friends. War is something terrible, something that puts people in unwonted circumstances, and made them do things thay would never do otherwise. That's why we should stop fighting and should learn to understand and forgive each other instead. Yes, I'm a pacifist >_>

Reading the comments on this video breaks me heart. The war has been over for decades. There are always going to be conflicts between countries. However it is people like those who commented that cause the conflict. The fact of the matter is every time a war is spurred, one group fights for its life, one fights for what it thinks is its life. It must expand or else it will die. That is the thought process. Except if humans weren't thrown into positions were they feel like they must expand or die (survive), wars wouldn't happen so much. Regardless, the war has been over for a long time now. The people who commanded and fought in it are mostly all dead. We are in a new age, and with a new age comes new people who shouldn't have to be responsible for what their ancestors did. Stop pointing fingers and be active in fixing the problem.

The movie does not give us all the history. But we need to know. The Japanese government has called himself a victim without apology for the Pacific War. The Japanese government is now rooting for the Japanese to miss the Pacific War. Japan is not like this movie. They want to wipe their history. However, there is no real apology. I can not understand the United States. Japan does not admit their fault that you do not understand America better. Ask for your grandfather. Japan was like Nazi ditch. Justin Bieber is like Rising Sun Flag. Koreans and Chinese will be judging him in astonishment. Rising Sun Flag is the same as the Hakenkreuz.

This is just a film that uses falsified and biased information to vilify Japan. Well, I guess it is common for some westerners to do so since there are always white people who still have biased opinions towards Asian. Nowadays, people outside of Japan tend to ignore countless war crimes committed by US troops. Besides Hiroshima and Nagasaki, US submarines attacked many Japanese civilian ships and used machine guns to slaughter survivors, US bomber specifically targeted civilians in Tokyo using incendiary bombs and killed over 100,000, executing surrendered soldiers was common and the survive ratio of Japanese prisoners was a shocking 1 to 100, thousands of Japanese ladies were raped during US occupation. Why we never see a film portrays this side of the war? Throughout our history, why the side that belongs to justice always wins? The answer is simple: The winner defines justice. This is exactly what is happening here.

Felix Yang Are you serious man? I agree america holds crimes against civilians, but are you really defending the 1940's Japanese? The destruction they did to China was MASSIVE. They forced displaced women to become sex slaves to their men, and used foreigners as slaves. They had a kill all rule for POW camps if they were under threat of being taken over. They experimented on people with bio weapons especially POWs. All of these things are facts, and in turn, unbiased. What we should all learn these from conflicts is that war is brutal and comes at an unfathomable cost to humanity and dignity. All options of peace should be exhausted before war.

It's such a shame that both USA and UK troops have committed worse war crimes in recent years despite bitter history. UK soldiers tortured and killed innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Hague is now investigating UK war crimes). The US is reaponsible for senseless horrible torture and abuse in Guantanamo. It's pathetic these two nations ignore their recent war crimes and playing a role of victim. (Japanese soldiers were also brutally tortured by American and Russian in Siberia btw).

You lame mad idiot. It's 2015. We have internet and hidden history has been exposed one after another. Many Americans and Europeans already know what US schools teach you is distortion. UK Churchill also spoke that America provoked Japan into attacking Pearl Harbor. It was not a sneak attack. FDR knew it because they staged. Blame Roosevelt. Follow Michael Yon's facebook. American journalist, Ex vetran who served for Iraq war. Many Americans already know the truth that America Started the War. "A-bombs saved the lives'' ''Japan didn't surrender'' are blatant bullshits. Japan tried to surrender in MAY, 1945. Educate yourself. Read the famous book, ''DAY OF DECEIT - THE FDR AND TRUTH ABOUT PEARL HARBOR'' written by WW2 veteran!! m.facebook.com/MichaelYonFanPage/photos/a.235978145664.135781.207730000664/10152452085045665/ And your lame racism is embarassing in this age when US-Japan ties are among the strongest for 70 years. 50,000 Japanese POWs were also beaten, tortured and killed by Americans and the Allies in New Zealand, Siberia. US soldiers did the same. But the Japanese never spew ugly swear words unlike you. Grow up! Anyone who can justify the two Atomic bombs and bombings over unarmed civilians is pure evil psycopath. Americans like you have no compassion for the civilian massacres in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, either. despite the fact over 9,000 US veterans commit suicide every year. You are too short-sighted. If the WW2 was such a tragedy for you, why do you feel nothing when the US military has been repeating horrible atrocities for the last 70 years? Yawn...
@lisasta827
@lisasta827 9 жыл бұрын
You mock the two Atomic bombs but ironically enough, due to hundreds of Atomic bomb testings done in Nevada, thousands of American residents in Nevada have been suffering from radiation and cancer for decades. You should consider that America also had Hiroshima in Nevada. Cancer compensation programs is ongoing matter. m.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/intheworkplace/cancer-among-military-personnel-exposed-to-nuclear-weapons You can never joke about Atomic bombs if you learned what your US government has done to your people.

"The bombs saved approx. 200,000 American lives'' is nothing but a propaganda to brainwash you so. American soldiers in Japan were also bombed and killed at that time. In Korean war and Vietnam war, more Americans died and thousands of veterans are still suffering from Agent Orange and PTSD. The US Govt had no will to ''save American lives''. Decent people all realize it in this age, judging from the US history.

love the book, hard to listen to Jolie speak such shallow nonsense about such a magnificent man.

Amazing movie. But in real life the soldiers should have all come together and attacked their captors. Instead they stood around and watched Louie getting beaten over and over. These were SOLDIERS. If they had the strength to punch Louie in the face, they certainly had enough strength to take down the guards. At one point they even all had shovels. The prisoners FAR outnumbered the guards. Together they could have taken them, using anything as a weapon. Even if they had just killed the Bird, then the rest of them would have all fallen down like dominoes.
