Having watched Umar from about 2011, he said things that resonated about young black boys in school and their experience. Here’s where he went wrong... he should not have advertised getting a building. He should have kept speaking and drawing in the crowd. His vision outmatched his abilities. I could have seen him running a school at the time, but building it, staffing it, procuring there talent and construction to get it all done takes skills outside of his abilities. He took on too much. The dream was real but he didn’t know how to execute it. He doesn’t want the dream to die but he’s trapped by it now. The pressure is probably too much.
