I love the cruise ship section. Regardless of it fitting in with the narrative (because I agree, it's not exactly necessary). It's just a really fun video game moment. I think it's easy to lose track of the idea of just having simple fun with these games. I've recently played through the 5 mainline games, and I'll admit to doing so on the explorer/easiest difficulty. I like the stories, and they are essentially playable movies. PS: The actual movie is so-so. I kinda like Mark Wahlberg as Sully, but not completely. I saw something about Tom Holland taking a break from acting...thank you, man. There are a couple of things you overlooked that could help you think better of the story: 1. Talbot is an illusionist. You complain about him being inconsistent but that's the point. It's why he survives the bullet and why he "disappears" into the wall. Chloe pulls the tarot card out of Charlie, so that should be a dead giveaway. 2. At the core, it's a story about the relationship between Sully and Nathan. It's why the flashbacks there. Chloe and Charlie cutting out early is intentional because it's meant to elevate Sully's insistence of staying with Nate when everyone else doesn't deem it worth it. "He would go to the ends of the Earth for you, Nate. Just don't let him," as Elena says. Next time you're confused about Uncharted 3's story, just ask yourself: how does this serve the story about Nate and Sully? You might be surprised at what you find.

I think everyone always misses the point. Marlowe and Talbot are supposedly descendants of secret British society that’s main weapon is fear. What is more fearful than the unknown, like a man who seems to defy basic laws of nature. This world has been shown to be filled with the paranormal, whose to say that this group doesn’t have a paranormal element. Sure, the game could have flat out said “hey, this group is magic” and try to explain it, but I feel like that would kinda take something away from all of that.
@angusb992 жыл бұрын
@@kennethmccanse9049 The other games do a better job of balancing the intrigue with actually justifying it through later explanation though. The Descendants of U1 were scary and mysterious and it's eventually explained they were turned into that from the contents of the El Dorado casket. In U2 the Shambala guardians are explained as having superhuman powers from consuming the sap of the tree of life. In U3, Talbot can survive direct bullets, teleports, and disappears into thin air because... why? The lack of an explanation does not make his character better, it makes the writing look way worse. And U3 is nowhere near as scary as U1 so they failed at that big time.

I will say one thing about the shooting in the original trilogy in NDC. I had played these games after finishing UC4, and the difference between the controls in UC4 and UC1 is so jarring that i had to completely learn the movement and shooting controls from scratch. By the time i reached UC2, it got more familiar with controls in UC4, and removed the stupid cover switch mechanics in UC1 with much better animations in UC2. One thing I have seen on UC2 and UC3 is that the aiming gets much more complicated in UC3 as the power of these guns feel like they are fighting continuously against my shooting. I don't really support the switch from the AK47 to the M9 as the shooting feels much worse and bullet-spongy in UC3. I honestly think UC2 has the best shooting controls in the whole trilogy as each gun actually feels like it can have an effect in the combat scenarios. Guns feel smooth and not sluggish. Far-off targets can also be seen and shot properly, and something like this feels absent from UC3. Also, due to the introduction of all the more realistic animations in UC3, the gameplay and gunplay feels more sluggish than UC2 as Drake takes so much time doing every action. I feel like i can't climb stuff as fast as i could in UC2, and the reload animations also take longer.

My biggest issue with Uncharted 3 specifically is the way everyone treats Drake like he will do and sacrifice ANYTHING for the sake of adventure and a bit of gold. However, in both Uncharted 1 and 2, he has moments around halfway through where he straight up wants to give up on the adventure because he feels the danger to himself or his friends is getting out of hand and they always talk him back into it. In Uncharted 1, he was ready to leave the island with Elena and never look back, but Elena wanted to keep pushing forward he wasn't convinced until he learned Sully was alive at which point saving Sully and subsequently Elena (after she gets grabbed by Nevaro) becomes his primary objectives. In Uncharted 2 he is ready to move away from the objective in order to save Chloe and after the train incident he was ready to give up on the whole thing, until Elena and Chafer convince him otherwise at which point the treasure isn't the goal, stopping Lazaravich is the primary objective which Nate still has reservations about. He isn't a thoughtless adrenaline junky like every character seems to think he is in Uncharted 3 it's usually the other characters that preasure him to keep going.

A quick comment about the Djinn sequence. If I remember correctly I have finished the game in the hardest difficulty or at least in hard mode (which can be a drag) and I know that what helped was my hours into the UC3 Multiplayer. Basically, people in the MP were so intense with instant jumping headshots and bunny hops OS that coming back to the actual AI felt like fighting against kids. It is not easy, but when you get accoustumed to the various gameplay techniques of the MP - in which cover and shoot is a death sentence - you can deal with the Djins w/o too much hardship. Especially when you learn that you can fire the T-Bolt without having to aim and it will automatically shoot the enemy if you're close enough ^^

You know, I always figured that Talbot was actually trying to give them real money & they were pretending they thought it was fake as part of their larger plan.

If i was smart enough, i'd made it so the subway ads show up instead of the regular cutscenes. It would be funny to have drake all serious, climbing the landing gear of a flying plane, and just pulls out a large drink. 😂

I got Uncharted 3 from Half Price books, and thought it was gonna be some Call of Duty Ripoff, and was on the bargain bin for a reason. Man I WAS SO WRONG. I rarely cry over video games, much less the death of a character. I started tearing up watching sully "die" and the ending had me just sitting there, on the couch, just dumbstruck, not sure how I should have felt. I have all the Uncharted games now. Best Purchase ever.

Interesting tidbit about the game's unlockable rewards (Tweaks, as the menu called them) is that the original PS3 release of the game had a very neutered offering; the ability to change your player model was not present, and I don't think the cheats were either, though maybe a few of them were still available. These were added back into the remaster by Bluepoint, who used the multiplayer models that already had lots of player rigging.

Now I know my opinion regarding this game will be a bit biased due to it being the first game I bought on the PS3 and also the the first game I played. This game is fantastic, it's got great characters, amazing graphics and even better set pieces. And the multiplayer was really enjoyable, I remember coming home from school and playing the multiplayer with my friends. This game is amazing on it's own, but when compared to the rest of the series, it may fall behind a bit. The rest of the games in the series are just the best games on the console, uc3 may not have lived up to the greatness of uc2 but it is an amazing game and really fun to play nonetheless. And you'd be lying if you said you didn't have fun playing the game. I had an absolute blast of a time playing the game

I’ve always wondered how Talbot was able to pull a Batman and vanish into thin air, at least for Batman it works since he was trained by ninjas, but Talbot’s fighting style doesn’t show any kind of training
