District 6 is a neighborhood in Cape Town, South Africa that was classified as a white-only area under the Apartheid regime. The community that lived there were forcibly displaced to make room for the new white residents.
For decades they dreamed of returning home - a dream that seemed impossible under apartheid. Until one day it happened.

It is pretty disgusting what happened in South Africa and it still happens nowadays..Human animals are by far the worst on this planet. We are all the same, no matter colour of skin we have. To those so-called Christians how can you sleep peacefully, when brothers suffer terrible discrimination? I am disgusted with the human race!

The thing is I just learnt like last week most of the oldest masjids that established Islam in the Cape are in and around District Six. The original masjid, The Auwal Masjid and others like Zeenatul Islam Masjid (Muir Street Masjid). Learning about District Six as a South African and as a Capetonian who grew up nearby, it definitely stood out when learning about Z.A's history as one of the most prominent political symbols of what apartheid really was. Along side arguably the most prominent and well-known Apartheid struggle, 16th June, The Soweto Uprising. As we now know it as 'Youth Day'. Although personally I grew up after Apartheid ended, its impact was still felt and by the will of Allah, one day people will look back and won't hurt anymore.💗🤲🏻🤲🏻
