There's an actual comic book of it. Spidey actually stopped the burglar while on TV, doing it as a publicity stunt, which the police came to later and arrested the burglar. And Spidey's heroic stunt also ruined Jameson's reputation afterwards.

It's reveal that it wasn't the Carjacker named Dennis Carradine, whom he was shown on the mugshot photo when Captain Stacy (James Cromwell) showed it to Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) & May Parker (Rosemary Harris) at the Police Station. Captain Stacy told Peter and Aunt May he was wrong. It turns to Dennis Carradine's accomplice, that actual killer was still at large & Peter has no idea what Captain Stacy is talking about. Then, Captain Stacy showed the mugshot photo to Peter & Aunt May that *"This is the man, who killed your husband".* And it was Flint Marko.
