This was a great reaction as always. John Candy was truly a legend and will always hold a special place in my heart. He reminds me of my dad in so many ways, brash and not delicate but he always grows on people because he's gregarious and easy with jokes. John Hughes, what more needs to be said.

"Only the Lonely" is a really great example of one of his few roles that is more dramatic and less comedy. And he was really good in that as well. I've only seen a couple of movies he was ever in that I didn't care for, and those were movies where he only had small uncredited cameo appearances.

John Candy in Cool Runnings was amazing, a little more jaded/serious than in Uncle Buck but still hilarious.

Honestly movies like this just make me realize how breakneck the pacing in a lot of contemporary movies feel. Like if this was remade I don't think we'd get a second's pause on the guy who got the toothpick stuck in his mouth or the establishing shots in the cafeteria, and those bits add so much charm and realism to this movie.
@timothybruce4638Ай бұрын
I agree, and I miss this. Not that every movie has to be like this, but I miss media that felt it had space to take its time. That’s one of the things I like about watching a lot of international movies; not every culture has the need to keep things moving the way just about everything is here.
