Great song. I grew up across the ship channel and just a few miles from League City where he grew up. My dad worked on the ship channel skippering a supply boat, working alongside the chemical plants. He was involved in more than one plant explosion, but, thankfully, was never hurt. Never heard this song before but I love it. So damn relatable. His voice is outstanding. Suggestions - Chris Stapleton's "Fire Away" Zac Brown Band's "Colder Weather" Trisha Yearwood's "Walk Away Joe" (I've suggested that one before and seen it suggested but you mentioned Matthew McConaughey and he has a cameo in the video) and Garth's "Shameless" and "Red Strokes" LOL. Love hearing about the wardrobe drama. Nothing worse than arriving somewhere to find someone else has on the same outfit. For some of us women folk that can result in serious emotional trauma.

My dad wasn't exactly blue collar, but he kinda was. My Dad is the Pastor of a very small Church so he always had to work multiple jobs on top of Church. He has worked 25-26 years at UPS during the overnight hours loading the trucks. He was also the co-chair of the Safety committee so I heard about some horrific accidents and even fatalities over the years. My Grandfather worked 29½ years at the CF&I Steel Mill in Pueblo Colorado. I recently played this song for my Dad to get his thoughts. He had just about your reaction to the song. He told me stories his Dad had shared with him as a teenager about some of the accidents at the Steel Mill. Some Grandpa saw happen personally others he just heard about. The one that Grandpa saw that messed him up the worst was watching a man fall off a platform into the crucible of molton metal. I have seen/experienced my share of job site accidents, but I can't imagine what that man went through before dying and what Grandpa must have felt in the weeks afterwards.

Grew up in the Houston area not far from Brazos and such and my dad worked his gdamn ass off for me and my own. I recently joined a little band for the fun of it playing fiddle here in central Texas. My pops just had a stroke recently and luckily came out for the most part ok. But I feel this song. His health isn’t the best and I have a good job but always wanted to pursue music. No matter what I do now, it’s my turn at 28 to keep the wolves away finally. Whether it’s with my city job or my fingers on the fiddle. It’s time to rest pops. This song makes me feel like, “I got this”

You guys are silly. I do like metallica but nothing after garage, inc. And I got so burned out on them I didn't listen to them for years. 3rd shift factory worker here... chemical plant, actually. So this song hits. Glad you guys liked it! Unfortunately Uncle Lucius broke up a couple years ago but this song was used in Yellowstone so I think that may have caused in uptick in people discovering it. It is a true story about his dad and those are his parents in the video, as others have commented. As far as the whiskey.. hey, win some lose some. Better you than me. Now you're stuck with the bottle and I don't have to go get one for myself to try. At least it's a small bottle. 😆The whole marketing schtick for this is that the whiskey is blended using sonic wavelinks from blasting metallica's music. *insert eye roll here* Each bottle comes with a batch number and you can go online and see what playlist was supposedly used to make your bottle.
