Abusers rarely abuse "just once," and they rarely stop -- they escalate, often to doing permanent damage or even killing a victim. Do not give ANYONE a second chance to abuse you!

OP's a hero! She saved everyone from a truly evil monster! Mike deserves everything he got and more! I'm sure if her father was alive today, he would've been horrified. Same goes for Grandma. I hope that monstrous ogre spends the rest of his life rotting in jail! My only regret is that it didn't happen sooner. Good story. I consider this a story of recovery and it is a good one. I am glad that OP is doing well and focusing on her studies, but I think that the family should go to counseling, support groups, and spread awareness for child and elder abuse by joining an organization. Good luck to OP and I hope that she and the family will continue to do well.

With a will you can leave your property to whoever you want. Without a will, the property goes to the spouse, then the children. If a child is dead, their portion goes to their children.

The OP's uncle was most definitely the devil in this story. Or rather the personification of him. The fact that he abused his wife, kids, father, sister-in-law, and even OP is rather horrific. I think he was planning to squander the inheritance if he was included in the will, which he wasn't. Thank god for that. If he stayed any longer, I imagine he would've forced the grandpa to change the will to have him inherit everything. Luckily, with him fracturing OP's arm in a confrontation, and beating the living tar out of his father, the OP nipped this in the bud by calling the cops. She has mentioned that he'll be behind bars for more than a decade for his crimes. The thing is though, OP's uncle has already been written out the grandpa's will for his abusive nature, which means he did all that to OP and her mom out of anger and envy. Jealousy is no excuse for abusive behavior.

I am a pacifist, but someone like Mike, justifies the use of lethal force. Grandpa eould have been justified in having a firearm handy, to protect his family and himself. Hopefully, Mike stays in jail for a very long time, snd gets trested as he treated those in his life, that he should have cherished. You need to sit your mom and Grandpa down and tell them everything that you know. Don't hide anything. Make sure they understand what you're saying and what you know and also you need to turn him in for hurting you you're still a minor he can't do that. If he ever leaves a mark on you again you have got to take pictures of yourself to protect yourself if you're not going to turn him in right away and you need to start audio taping everything he says and everything he does. You need to protect yourself be so before he decides to kill you both and take the entire inheritance.

I used to be a psychiatric social worker. I agree with OP, everything was handled correctly. I am curious if Mike was ever diagnosed with a disorder. He does not regulate his emotions, I would say he has explosive personality dx. I hate seeing people with mental health issues im jail. I hope they do an assessment to see what kind of help he needs. That being said, Im glad OP, Mom and Grandpa are safe and sound. Thank you for sharing your story.
