Think about it, how quickly this family was able to get on the local news and being to control the narrative. The shooters father ran for mayor in their city, owned a chain of grocery stores and more so, this kid an his family had everything in life but because little white boi is bored the rest of us have to live in fear. This family had everything to provide this kid with world class mental health, most of these shooters come from well to do suburban families but become bored at their insulated safe lives and then go out and ruin it for the rest of us hard working average folks. These people were having a day off but it was ruined by a suburban kid that doesn’t know about real suffering and hard work.

His nephew did have a history and even his own family called the cops on him about a suicide attempt and another time for murder threats using his collection of knives. Several red flags that caught my attention in this interview: 1) the uncle lives with him, 2) the uncle says “everyone loves us”, 3) “if I did see signs, I would have said something”, 4) The uncle claims he never watched his work or saw his music videos, but says he’s a good artist. I mean come on, someone in your family as colorful and odd as this kid is and you live in proximity, but you don’t know anything about that person? It looks like the uncle is covering and maybe speaking for the dad too.

Sir, I don't know if you will read this, but if you do, I hope it brings you some comfort. It was not your fault, not your crime. If your nephew was responsible for this, it was not your doing. It seems he either took pains not to let anyone know his plans, or he acted on a dark impulse. You are not to blame, nor is anyone else in the family. My brother killed himself in 2000. We found in his belongings a plan to climb to the highest tower in town and kill as many people as possible. It is our belief that he found some sanity at the last moment and killed himself rather than kill a bunch of people. It was a very hard fight, it appears. We were aware of neither his desire to kill others, nor his plans to kill himself, even though we talked to him daily. He was very adept at hiding things, it seems. Mental health care is tricky, and when someone doesn't want to admit they need help, it is impossible. Please don't blame yourself, unless you personally knew of his plans and ignored them.

Being suicidal isn't a warning sign? His family knew about that. Why would any parent in that state sign for their child in order to get a Firearms Owners Identification card when they knew he had problems?

This poor man needs to be left to process his grief and be among his family, who are all undoubtedly hurting just as much. I realize people are curious and journalists can be opportunistic, but interviewing people on live television while they're in shock is exploitation, and deeply unethical. My heart goes out to this family as well as the families of the victims, they were all hurt by this young man's despicable actions.

I don't think it's fair to label the family as evil or responsible many times in these situations. Sometimes, the kid is just a straight up asshole and no matter how hard you try, the kid is on a path to self destruction. You can try your hardest to prevent everything, but you can't always. Society wants to be mad at this kid and his family and point fingers. We're angry and have a right to be. But sometimes kid's like this fall through the cracks no matter what you do.

No warning signs? The fact that he had to be home schooled so he wouldnt have to participate in therapy isn’t a warning sign? Could it be that there were plenty of warning signs but family rationalized and explained everything away to protect the kid, or because they didnt want to see the signs?

In a strange way, this reminds me of a friend of mine who took his own life several years ago. None of us saw it coming.
