To go from praying for a son’s life, to praying that he only commits suicide and not hurt others, is unimaginable as a Parent. What burden of guilt these parents have to carry for the rest of their lives. Prayers up for them and the families of the victims. May God bring healing to America!

What good people these two are. They have extraordinary perspective with this situation and how genuine they come across as they say how sorry they are and that they prayed that he shoot himself so nobody else was hurt. To have that perspective in that time of chaos and tragedy is so impressive and just shows what good mentally healthy people they are! Its like you want to feel sorry for them, but then you feel like you’re not being fair to the victims family so you are stuck in this ping pong of feelings and emotions. But also I mean Kuddos to Mom for pushing for an apt sooner, saying her son needs help before something bad happens not that in a million yrs she thought what happened was going to happen but just knowing her son needed help! And right now not next week but today! And that is hard for any parent

These parents are a prime example that there are times where parents should not be automatically blamed for the criminal acts of their children. Two decent parents who tried everything to seek help. Some people cannot be helped. You can be the best parent, teach your child about respect, and your child still makes the wrong decision. I hope these two parents remain strong and find some kind of peace. Their emotions are so raw and understandably heartbreaking.

Exceptional like Jeffrey dharma mamma and pop. Or exceptional like the mother who 6 year old shot the teacher, which one? They are sorry, but not exceptional. They raised another mass murderer and behaving like babies when this occurs for a certain picture in media will not change who is next. Other people should start being honest, news and media complain about a certain monster, when many are lurking right around Your Own backyard. *****Mass shootings in the U.S. by shooter’s by race/ethnicity as of April 2023 Published by Statista Research Department, Jun 2, 2023 Between 1982 and April 2023, 74 out of the 142 mass shootings in the United States were carried out by WHITE shooters. By comparison, the perpetrator was African American in 25 mass shootings, and Latino in 11. When calculated as percentages, this amounts to 52 percent, 17 percent, and seven percent respectively.

My heart goes out to them, but they seem like nice people and did an exceptional *interview*. All these comments "they're exceptional parents"... did we watch the same interview? They said they weren't. There's something exceptional about acknowledging that... but even if they were exceptional parents you can't tell that from one heartbreaking interview. They raised a son who killed 5 people (and placed one cop in critical condition, probably who will never be the same after being shot in the head) and people want to overpraise the killer's parents? That's what comes to people's minds? There's something a little icky about that, to be honest.

Valerie - That’s odd since it was in most news stories that the gunman “knew he was going to be fired” and that’s why he went there to do that. It was said that he also included that in his notes that he was going there to “shooot.” He might have thought he was going to be or he did something that he feared might be reason for his firing. Even if he wasn’t going to be and it was false information, I would think that would have been included in the interview to clear up the reason or motive. Nothing at all was said.

I was close to what happened in Littleton Colorado over two decades ago. As a kid, I played baseball for 3 years with a school shooter. These parents did something most previous could not. It's easier to go into hiding and look for excuses around what your child just did. Give them credit for this interview. Now, to all the parents out there, most of you are doing amazing things for your kids. You'll never guess to see this unfold with yours, just like these parents. My only advice, again, having lived in this world for 20+ years of tragedy since it happened in our community - please, be very aware, if someone you love is in a bad state of mind, you need to sacrifice every part of yourself necessary to ensure your loved one does not carry out the harm on themselves and/or others that has become all too common in our society. "Well meaning people keep saying to us... you did what any reasonable parents would have done...in his darkest hour, he needed us to be exceptional, not reasonable...we were not exceptional" It's well said, and unfortunate for these people. Their grief has only begun, take it from me. Thoughts and prayers to all who are affected by violent crimes.

My daughter committed suicide bc there is NO help for people living with anxiety and panic attacks. Because you heard the mother it ... Was only anxiety. Calling the suicide hot line only brings more anxiety bc police come and drag your child away in hand cuffs or carry them out to the squad car bc they are a danger to themselves.😢 God is the only way out. Many times, at the age Connor was, mental illness presents itself, often times unexpected. Suicide is anger turned inward. Homicide is anger turned outward. Both were accomplished, in this case. These parents were very thoughtful in their responses, and they did not place blame on anyone else for what their son did. It hurts me when the dad gets teary talking about how they weren't exceptional. What a horrible situation! There are no winners here, only grief and pain.

So an inanimate object caused their son to murder all those people. Why don't they look into the mirror and acknowledge your poor parenting skills!! There is NO mental healthcare in the United States. It has been created by completely destroying family culture, devaluing life and lives, allowing "anything goes" and a complete breakdown of morals & ethics. There's no morality left in this country. Heck, we can't even define what a Biological Woman is. And at the end of the day, everyone wants to blame inanimate objects 🤔🤔🙄🙄😂😂. It's NOT the Firearms!!
