I am an INDIAN, Jamie Oliver's butter chicken triggered me at many levels because nothing was correct and butter chicken should be little spicy and we never add mango chutney in it ever. ohhhh myyyyy goddddddddd.

Aside from its slang use, gnarly means twisted, growing unnaturally, or deformed… Jamie probably thought he was using it in the cool 80s sense but a lot of his food is the other kind of gnarly.

That laugh from Peach when you say "It looks okay" and then laughing in the start, is just so brilliant. Thanks for the good laughs! Love finding new channels! Following. Also love Japan! Worked in Tokyo with my company back in 2003-4. Really ❤️ Japan! As my second favorite asian country. Sorry, South Korean expat living in Norway I have to say that. 😂 Gonna love watching your channel grow. Thanks for the great comments and entertainment in these rather dark days.

It is unusually hot and sunny for the end of Summer and beginning of Fall on the east coast of Vancouver Island where I live and it has been unseasonably warm and dry for weeks upon weeks. I still proudly use slang from the 1980s! I enjoyed your video P&S!

I think that "gnarly" may have transitioned from a term for signifying "bad" to one signifying 'good" due to surfer culture. "Gnarly" could be used to describe a very large wave. On the bad side, very large waves" could be scary and dangerous (bad) for surfers, but large waves are also greatly valued by some surfers (and so "good" for them)..

Gnarly is slang for surfers use to say cool. Really only surfers still use it so you don't hear it too much unless you hang around them. Anyways, if you're gonna make butter chicken then add some butter, otherwise it's just wet dry chicken like Jamie Olive Oil made lol

Do you ever plan on branching out with some famous "bad cooks" on KZbin, like Kay's Cooking or Cooking with Jack? It might be fun to see Peach's reactions to some of the stuff Jack has made, like the Aunt Myrna's Party Salad or the McCormick Bag 'N Season video (the famous "pink chicken" incident). As for Jamie cooking by diluting, maybe he's into homepathy. 😂

Gnarly can be used as another word for Nasty/Disgusting/Gross though it can be used as a positive word as well though lol, its one of those slang's that took on a double meaning.
@shadowswithin7022 жыл бұрын
As far as I knew the word "gnarly", came from surfers back in the 80's maybe early 90's. From around California and other areas prolific to surfing, and was used to describe really big waves. That they could use to surf on, and do tricks and such. I could be wrong with this, and am happy to be educated on that. But that's where I thought the word came from, either way it's all made up words so, I don't know that it matters. As for Jamie, well I don't think Asian cooking is his area of expertise. He's English so probably trained in European cuisine, a lot of which involves French ways of doing things. And he appears to be mixing different styles, which is okay if your just cooking at home. But I don't know that he should be teaching people, Asian cuisine that is not traditionally Asian. Because people will think that's how it's done, replicate it and wonder why it does not taste the same, as the food they eat in restaurants.

The other context you'd use 'gnarly' is referring to an old oak tree.

Gnarly used to mean things like ugly, distasteful, nasty, unpleasant, things like that. Nowadays (at least in the UK) it's used as a heightening expression, like "f*cking great".
