WHO IS THE TYKO FAM?
We are a Fil-Am family of 4 from the Bay Area of California, now living in the Philippines!
This is our FAMILY VLOG CHANNEL where we share our Filipino-American culture, experiences, and lifestyle while living in the Philippines. We also love to travel local and abroad.
OUR BACKGROUND:
Mommy, Ty and Kona were all born and raised in the States. Daddy was born in Iloilo and grew up in the States ever since he was 11 years old. In 2016, we all made the big move to the Philippines!
Our name "The Tyko Fam" originates from the love and focus of our kids Ty & Kona. And as a FAMily, we enjoy spending quality time and adventures together.
Moving to the Philippines gave us an opportunity to do more travel, live our life on our own terms, and most importantly... to appreciate and learn more about our roots and culture of our Philippine heritage.

Yeah! They were so excited! We'll have more friends and family arriving in the next few weeks too. So stoked to show them around! Sorry, I forgot to reveal what was inside the buns. The panda buns had chocolate sauce in it. And the piggie ones had egg custard. It was so good, but we were so stuffed with all that food!

How privileged Filipinos abroad to always have the Philippines they can go back to whenever they wanted, a beautiful, affordable developing country, because imagine if the Philippines was a U S state/territory and became expensive like Hawaii(most expensive state in the U S) wherein native Hawaiians are forced to move out because of how expensive everything & go to some of the cheaper states in the mainland U S & even worst become homeless in their own native land which is now the reality that is already happening in Hawaii...& now Puerto Rico is in the same direction😁😅You guys should be very grateful. Anyways, nice to see your cousins enjoy & have a glimpse of their beautiful motherland🥰

Yes definitely! We're soooo grateful 🙏! We pinch ourselves everyday in awe to be able to live in the Philippines. It really made us appreciate where we came from and what our parents did to work abroad and to start new lives in a foreign country. Coming to the motherland was a real eye-opener for us. And it's so wonderful to see our cousins and uncle come back and appreciate the same. ❤️ Thank you so much for this reminder 🥰

You're definitely right! We always tell family that they really need to spend more time in each place they visit. Every time visitors stop by Manila, they're only here for 2 days. We're like that's not enough! There's so much to see! And then they regret their time spent. But I'm glad our fam visited. It really opened up their eyes and minds to visit more often.

Haha! Yeah secret bar in 7-11 😜! Always a hit with new visitors! Wish we had more time with them to show more in BGC. We literally did this quick tour in 3-4 hrs! But they enjoyed and are more convinced to visit more often. And yes, the new generation is learning 🙌! The kids these days are so bold and ambitious. Yeah balut! We've tried all sizes, but we prefer the younger ones as well. I was never into trying balut before until my husband pressured me one day when he brought some home. And I ended up loving it! 😋😄 But I know it's not for everyone 🙈

They own a business in the States which keeps them busy. But now, they're at a point where they want to relax more and work less. And probably deep down, they were a little scared. But they've been seeing videos and hearing from other relatives (besides us) about the Philippines. So finally, they were able to make the time to visit and plan to come more often. My cousins were a little upset that it took them this long to see the Philippines 😄.

Your cousins' impression of BGC is why the Philippines needs more CBDs (central business districts) like BGC, Makati, Ortigas, Eastwood, etc. Its the only way to modernize and develop a PH city

suburban MetroManila has now been transformed into a vibrant ultra modern city...n as a matter of fact , Manila is one of the friendliest n safest tourist city in Asia...n recently Manila, or rather the Philippines has been voted as the Best Cruise Destination of 2024...that is why several Cruise ships have been regularly visiting Manila n the provinces of Cebu, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Palawan n the beaches of Boracay n Bohol

Yes definitely. Our family started off their trip going straight to the province which was already a huge culture shock for them. And they definitely enjoyed their time and appreciate all aspects of the Philippines. To be honest, many first-time visitors like our cousins expect the Philippines to be like places like Tondo or the province. They never expect places like BGC to exist.
