It's me again Uncle... I just want to say that you're doing everything right. The road trip in itself is terrific and the fact that you show everything: the map at the top left of the screen, the compass as to what direction you are traveling at the top right corner of the screen and MPH, Location , elevation and date and time at the bottom left of the screen. That is outstanding, Coolie. Nobody else does that: not Traveling Robert or BRT (BigRigTravels). Right now, you are the best out there. Keep doing this and all you'll need is commentary like (Traveling Robert) and you really don't need that. You are showing us everything on the screen. Absolutely outstanding!!

Excellent video, Thanks for giving us this ride. I am looking to change my dahscam (Garmin Dash Cam ™ 20), and I am convinced by the Garmin VIRB® Ultra 30. My doubt is that it is a camera released in 2016 and I do not know if after 4 years, Garmin will release any update , to compete with the Gopro Hero 8 Black. Obviously, the strength of Garmin are not these cameras (it is as if GoPro was trying to break into the GPS or avionics market). They are excellent products, but the market looks to GoPro for cameras and Garmin for GPS (it's just a neuromarketing issue) But in principle, I am falling in love with this camera, and with your videos you give me reasons for that. I plan to film the entire journey between Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Cuzco (Peru), passing through Bolivia on the way and returning to Chile (I calculate about 4225 mi. between there and back)

So far I like the Garmin Virb Ultra 30 that I have. I made that trip in reverse, I started in Highland Utah, my gift to Ely was to dump the contents of my toxic waste tank down the middle of the Main Street through town. The damn glued fitting to the plumbing came loose, nothing broke just parted ways. I was pulling a second hand trailer. I saw the contents pouring out but not a damn thing I could do about it. I was looking in my rear view mirror for miles waiting for the local constabulary to nail me. That was way back in late 70s. Coming down a long grade, must have been 5 or more miles, we saw a plume of black smoke, by the time we got there the mobile was a pile of ashes, the propane tank was still venting, why that tank didn’t BLEVE is beyond me. Boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion for the uninitiated.

That was like me where I grew up, which was only about an hour or so north of NYC, but I had only been to NYC a few times growing up.

@@jacobdunklin9951 thank you! Would you consider the drive there from Fresno scary? As in high cliffs, etc?

@@douluvsit no, there is one short stretch of road just before tunnel view which has a fairly steep slope, but it’s not quite cliff like.

Great work!! Just wordering, the info on the bottom left, the map and the road logos are provided by your GPS and then inserted into the film, or are provided rather by the camera itself? Thanks so much for this!
@unclecoolie4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The GPS information comes from the Virb software that the Garmin Virb Ultra 30 uses. All other information, including the map overlay, I add myself in Final Cut Pro, which is what I use to edit these videos.

Keep up the great work with these driving videos!! I’m still waiting to receive my National Park Pass for my road trip next month to the National Parks...Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada (Hoover Dam) and California. Living in Florida, I had the dream of driving out west to see the mountains of the desert southwest, and the different topography of these states. I only visited Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Anaheim CA (Disneyland) for a brief time. I think California is the best state for a road trip since it’s very scenic and has a diverse topography. A little bit of everything. Although Utah is very pretty as well seeing it through your videos and other road trip videos. The Smokey Mountains are not the same for sure. I essentially was locked away in the eastern section of the US most of my life and I now have the opportunity to finally get in my car and drive to the WEST. Do any of these drivers use their cruise controls when driving through these up and down twisty roads?? Instead they keep riding their brakes. Keeping a safe distance and setting the cruise at about max 10 over the speed limit would make for a smoother ride as the car accelerates / decelerates for you...a more constant speed (stating the obvious here). I’m assuming they don’t have “Adaptive Cruise Control”. My vehicle comes equipped with this so it worked great through the Smokey Mountains. Stay safe out there!

Thanks. I'm from the east coast, too, which is a big reason why doing drives out west is special to me. I'm looking forward to doing another big road trip soon. I'm just not sure when I can do it. I want to see the Smoky Mountains, and I might make a trip there if I can't do anything else.

Why in the world would you drive up to Tahoe to get to Reno, when you were already in Gardnerville? You added like 30 minutes to your drive. I genuinely have to know if it was for getting more content for the video or not. Please tell me I'm stressed.
