Thanks! It was a beautiful area, but I don't know anyone there. I was just driving to Nova Scotia, and I wanted to avoid driving up through the New England states because I planned to drive back that way. I wanted to originally drive through Toronto via Niagara Falls, but I just couldn't fit it into the tight schedule. I'll have to visit those areas in a future Canadian road trip.

I lived in MoCo MD for 10 years. Used to go to the Cars and Coffee in Great Falls on Saturday mornings. Seeing Rt 15 made me think of the drives I'd take home on that road through Point of Rocks, Tuscarora, Dickerson, and Barnesville. Pretty drive! And that Rocky Point Creamery in Point of Rocks had some good ice cream.

Hi coolie, it´s me. At first, happy new year to you and your family. Today, I´m watching your video and...I discovered a little mistake in Binghampton NY. At 5:00:00 - 5:00:01 there´s a wrong road sign. "West 17 use left lane". The sign of U.S. route US-17.; but correct is state route NY-17. Again a wonderful video and best weather. bye for now, Robert.

I've appreciated your videos so much, I imagine I want to do that, get a driver's license and SUV and camera just for that. Can you spare some change? (Intended reference to Smash Mouth song All Star, exactly what it means in that song, in case you don't get that.) Not to say everything I noticed while watching, but something from my own experience too: You know you're close to the U.S.-Canada border when you see both flags flying side by side, and when it's just the Canadian flag, you know it's Canada. I wonder what you or your viewers think of the song "The Trip" by Still Corners? That's very laid back. There may be some other music that's bigger and more important, to match the depth of trips like this, and I don't just mean Autobahn, although that would be neat for the nostalgia if driving a German make or driving Salzburg to Munich again. I think I especially liked when the song Missed Connection by The Head and the Heart came on the radio, driving over a bridge in the Florida Keys on the way from Newfoundland. A KZbin generated playlist of half The Joy Formidable tracks got me through the second half of this trip with time flying. That might be just me about liking them, Welsh Utahans. Your mileage may vary.

Lovely video. Nice (and useful) map but one 25% smaller may provide the same information and don't use so much real state on the screen. The open sky is one of the strong points of videos like this. Besides, latitude and longitude are right on the corner but there is a gap between the map and the border of the screen, more real state wasted. You have a very good place to put all this when around 25& of the screen is your car and nobody is going to watch the dashboard. The map for instance could almost fit into the bottom left corner without changing the size . As for the editing of the pit stops, I guess you want to show all the trip on the car and that's OK, but they break the flow. Merging the beginning and the end, indicating why there is a cut could solve the problem. In any case, I love your country and your channel has some of the best road videos. Thanks for uploading them, I will certainly keep watching.
@unclecoolie
@unclecoolie 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I tried reducing the map but then it becomes hard to read and see. That's why I stopped putting the cities on the overlay map. I can reduce the map for the 4K video, but not for these 1080p videos. I capture the dash only because I like to use a wide angle lens.
@rafaeldiazsanchez
@rafaeldiazsanchez 4 жыл бұрын
@@unclecoolie Well, it all depends on what you consider that people want to know from your trip. Reading the comments it seems that people watch your videos for the landscape, the relaxing images... and not so much for the geographical data. In my case, the road, the date, the route and the state you are driving usually are enough. There is no problem with the dashboard being visible, it mainly occupies asphalt space, not the landscape or the sky and it is like the noise of the engine, part of the driving experience. It should be somewhere. It is then the ideal place for the information
@unclecoolie
@unclecoolie 4 жыл бұрын
@@rafaeldiazsanchez The corners and bottom are where I have put everything. I want to drive mainly vehicles with short hoods and mount the camera on the roof, but that's too risky for a long road trip. That's why I haven't yet used a 360 camera for my road trips. I'm working on a solution for my next road trips in 2021 though.

It's possible: I live close to DC, which has some of the worst roads in the country.

@@unclecoolie BTW why are there a lot of US roads created very bad?

@@AaronDanielLIsles It depends on the state. Pennsylvania and New York generally have worse roads than most states.

Why hawkesbury?

I had planned this whole trip out (up into Canada, through Montreal over to NB and to North Sydney, NS and then back across NB and down the east coast of the U.S. back to Virginia) over 4 days total, and I determined that Hawkesbury was the best place to stay for the first night given how long it would take me to get to New Glasgow, NS, which is where I spent the second night.
