By far my favorite thing to do in this game is being that one eureka effect engie on offense in badwater that teleports his entire team straight to the cart in a matter of seconds.

@@Calcifer-Pendragon18 I think I was alluding to the fact that the Eureka makes it easier and faster to construct a level 3 tele in normally unconventional spots, thus making rejoining the fight take mere seconds for teammates, though saying it'd be mere seconds for the entire team may have been somewhat hyperbolic. Still, since the cooldown is (if i remember correctly) 3 seconds per player at that level, it wouldn't even take half a minute for everyone to use it at least once and get to the front.

When I go engie on defense, I usually never have enough time to build on B because of Casual Mode's inherent lack of coordination, so I just usually jump straight to building on C, with the Sentry on the left side rail. It works really well, and teammates can usually see what needs to be done, where they have to push, and when they have to retreat. I almost always help my team win these matches on these points. PS: If my team is doing good I can adapt and build on B, but that is often rare in my experience. I'd rather have a solid defense on C, than having two mediocre defense points, only to have to build on last after they steamroll both points back to back, as it often happens in matches.

something worth noting: Placing the sentries along the ledge, while being a more advantageous position, it also makes it vulnerable to whiffs from soldier rockets hitting the ledge under it. It therefore proves prudent to check enemy team comp, because if there are too many soldiers or demomen, watch out.

It's right next to spawn and a pretty good flank route to cut the enemy and there's always some soldier or demo or heavy locking down that area. It's very difficult to reliably get hits without dying after which the engie just heals up.

I prefer to use the 5:50 spot (or just a bit to the left, on the lowground) for a full sentry, which will be rescue-rangered / rebuilt on the cliff as necessary. In a pub, this spot will always wrack a few good kills and get the enemy to waste an uber-charge to take the sentry out.

I tend to use the mini-shack (what I call the weird little area outside spawn) and turtle if I have at least two other engineers on my team and we’re pushed back to there. Almost full coverage of the entire courtyard, and you can wrangle to cover your friends in the under-tires from attacks from the map room.

My favorite play is to put a blue sentry in the sniper room by tires so that you can barely hit the top from the little balcony on last, then try to sneak over to the balcony and rescue ranger it. Rarely works, but when it does it's practically a guaranteed win.

Interesting idea: combine 5cp and payload, placing the payload in the middle and having the cart get pushed by both teams in opposite directions, with the push rules being that it takes about 5 seconds to turn around and that enemy presence severely slows the cart but doesn't stop it outright.

I am a main Medic but did play as Engie so many times in Badwater where I did my best for the team. I remember one time where in the last few seconds I build a level1 sentry right next to the cart that is also right next to the first control point, I managed to get some kills, if I didn't do this Blu team would have 100% take the point and continue the match. Anytime Engies needs me as a Medic, I'll always be there for them! We both support the team for as long as we can!

about the 13:40 "enclosed shack", if you can gather a team there and a nest you can actually defend it well, as the only way to break it easily is with an uber push. the sentry kills any enemies like scouts trying to sprint in, and your team mates kill demomen and soldiers before they can peek the corner to kill the gun. the team just needs to be cordinated with the defence.

On point C, my sentry always goes on top of the wood planks, but on the right side. Funky hit boxes allow you to basically levitate your sentry there, meaning you both have the height advantage that allows the sentry to better see the area below, and it’s far enough right that it can’t be spammed from the right building. The only downside of that area is that any substantial ammo boxes are far away, so you either need to hog your dispenser close by or hope your team helps dissuade folks from peeking your gun.

That "annoying sentry spot" you mention at 17:50 happens to be annoying whenever the RED team have several decent snipers nearby, locking the map room down. This makes it hard for explosive classes to safely destroy the wrangled sentry, as they will be taking 150 damage every second while being in map room.

J. H This game becomes really enjoyable once you become somewhat competent at it. Honestly, just play the game a lot. You need a lot of foundational gameplay knowledge (movement, aim, etc), so the start is one of the most important times for you. Mainly, just don’t be afraid to make mistakes. I’d recommend you refer to KZbin tutorials for more advanced mechanics in the late run. (rocket jumping, sticky jumping, etc)

I think the key reason why soldier is such a good class is that he excels wherever there are walls. So long as there isn’t a pyro, skilled sniper or Uber medic with a dmg class, then soldier will likely win because the walls and floor will cause damage to the enemy. In order for soldier to be a bad class, you would have to play on a map without walls or a floor. I think it’s somewhat obvious what is implied here; soldier is the most consistent class because his advantage condition is completely necessary for a map to be playable in common terms.

I think i good strategy is to first equip the eureka effect before placing the tele entrance because as long as the entrance doesn't get destroyed, your teles will always only need 100 metal per upgrade
