How is this hurting the trans community? If anything isn't it more validating by showing that you can transition from one thing to any thing?
@CJMGalaxy3 жыл бұрын
@@gmkar7766 This. This is how it's harming the trans community. People equate transracialism (which is not a thing, race as a social construct is entirely different from gender and is defined by location, shared culture, and the way people of other races treat you, it's not just a matter of social roles) with being transgender. It becomes a weapon to discredit and delegitimize us. We went through the same shit after Rachel Dolezal and it's incredible that we have to defend our existence again.
@gmkar77663 жыл бұрын
@@CJMGalaxy But how exactly is it different?
@CJMGalaxy3 жыл бұрын
@@gmkar7766 I just explained it above, but if I must repeat myself... Race as a social construct involves where your ancestors are from, the culture you grow up in, your language, and how people of other races treat people of your background. Gender involves a social role enforced upon someone based on their sex characteristics at birth, with no ancestral ties or location dictating which gender you are assigned. They are entirely different. Both are human inventions, but they have very different origins and impact in our society. Calling these people "transracial" isn't even accurate - that word already has a meaning, and it's to do with the relationship between families comprised of people of different racial backgrounds, especially where adoption is concerned. What people who claim to "transition" races is actually do is appropriate the culture and appearance of another racial group, often, as in this person's case, extremely ineptly and offensively.
@gmkar77663 жыл бұрын
@@CJMGalaxy Thanks. You might feel like you're repeating yourself, but that's because you didn't actually explain anything. So basically race is a social construct based on the material reality of your ancestors' ethnicity and your socialisation within a culture, and your treatment by outsiders as a member of that culture, whereas gender is a social construct based on the material reality of your sex which is determined by your dad's sperm (second X or only Y) , your socialisation as a member of that sex, and your treatment by members of the opposite sex? (e.g. being a woman and being catcalled, sexually harassed, overlooked for career advancement, treated by society as a walking womb etc etc). You could even go as far as to say that sex determines which gender you are assigned. So we've got two social constructs, both based on immutable physical reality. And again, I ask, how is it possible to transition from one thing to the other in the case of gender but not race? If you had an answer to this question, I suspect you would have answered it by now. But seeing that you just repeated what you already said, I'm not holding out hope that you know something I don't.

I hate it when he says "it's appreciation not appropriation". The whole situation is just so upsetting and harmful on so many levels.
@veenorelation40083 жыл бұрын
The fact that they coopted the term transracial and acted like it was this new groundbreaking concept that they created goes to show how ignorant and insensitive they are. For those of you who may not know transracial is a term used to describe a person of one race who was adopted into a family of another race and were raised and socialized like a person of their adopted race. What this person is doing is doing less to legitimize themselves and more to delegitimize trans people. Trans people and their community are already so vulnerable, and their existence is constantly being undermined and what this person is doing is adding fuel to the fire. The fact that they are saying that the woke mob is bullying them while also trying to make a place fore themselves at the LGBT table is so hypocritical.

This is the extreme version of fans getting copies of Jungkook’s tattoos. Like its described as appreciation, but in reality its taking away someone’s individuality. What makes them unique is no longer going to be there because someone feels the need to take away their individuality. And that’s not even mentioning the way they “transitioned” to Korean…😬

I’m not Korean but I am a black person and this reminds me a lot of blackfishing. For decades and centuries black features like dark skin, big lips, and curvaceous bodies were seen as undesirable. But now that blackness and in tern black traits are trendy non-black people are constantly getting procedures to acquire those traits that they once bullied black people for. I personally don’t mind when non-black people want to emulate black features. The problem for me is when they perpetuate shallow negative stereotypes as if they represent all black people. They get locks, lip injections, and a severe tan, drink lean and talk in broken stereotypical AAVE. Even if they think there is nothing wrong and their black friend said they liked it that does not mitigate the fact that they are perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
@YouKnowImOnMyPeriodYah3 жыл бұрын
Facts. Idc about getting lip injections since any race could get that via genetics But the tanning and badly spoken aave needs to go ✋🏾🤧
@TheSlipperyNUwUdle3 жыл бұрын
When does it become black fishing? What if someone just wants bigger lips or more curves? I’m on your side for like, darkening skin drastically. But I don’t see anything wrong with wanting fuller lips. Especially if the person in question has never actually mocked black people for those traits.
@veenorelation40083 жыл бұрын
@@TheSlipperyNUwUdle I'm no talking about people who just want to get those procedures I have no problem with that. I'm talking about those people who get them and pretend that they had always been like that. Like one day they are white and the next day they are black and they pretend they had always been that way. Edit: Mostly when people build their entire online person as 'black' and profit off of it and deny the truth when people point out they were not born with those traits.
@yeetlol35372 жыл бұрын
@@TheSlipperyNUwUdle as a black person its not bad on its own but its when they do it in tandom with getting the lip injections and severe tanning than it becomes an issue. Like some black ppl arent even curvy some are skinny

As Korean American there's something very disturbing about this individual, instead of learning from the culture they decide to do this very racist action and also invalidate transgender people. I really feel like this is what happens when koreaboos take things way too far and disregard everything just because it has to do with Korea. I've had people act very differently towards me in uncomfortable ways just because I'm part Korean and it's why I don't really like it when k-pop stans idolize groups to a point of fetishization, it leads to stuff like this in my opinion.
@Purple_haze810003 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think K-pop stans are so dumb and see Korean culture as BTS. They don’t look at any other aspects of Korean culture. Bts are not even real personality; it’s a gimmick. It’s manufactured crap.

I am trans and also kinda irked AF bout this nonsense... Like gender is presentation and internal feelings. Race or ethnicity is equally how people see ya AND cultural. Just cause ya look Korean doesn't mean ya know jack sheet bout the Korean experience the way someone who is raised in it does. He is a tourist for Korean life, but the average Korean can't just bow out of being Asian whenever it suits.

I dont think they're pretending.. trolling at times for attention, absolutely! But I think they got deeper into their delusion about Jimin. Delusions has this ability to make you take some extreme mental gymnastics for crazy concepts to make sense to them. They seek out things that confirms their delusion and fall deeper into it. The more they engage with their delusion, the more real to them it'll feel. I'm sure they don't actually care about BTS or Jimin as a person, but as a concept. The concept of being young and beautiful, loved and successful - from a place where they're not. I think it's the idea of Jimin, rather than jimin himself. Hence wanting to become him, burying themselves under it. Because they might feel that "Ollie" is someone who is doing bad things for themselves, while Jimin is this abstract idea of perfection. As for the trolling for attention - yeah. It's almost similar to that syndrome where you fake illnesses (of yourself or your child) because that attention gives a high. They KNOW they're lying but their mind is putting the knowledge aside in favour of the high. I think the negative attention is as much a high as the surgery is. Because I think over time, they've had to cope with it the same way. They know it's bad but they need it - both the attention and the surgeries. But in their mind - jimin doesn't need surgeries or lies, he's real, loved and fine as he is. While Ollie feels imperfect. I think Ollie is in a deep relationship with their delusion. I think they KNOW-know, but as I said, does a mind gymnastics to not deal with it directly. But subconsciously it slips out through their language, how they speak about themself. That's the bit that (I think) people are pointing to as "look they know they're making it up!" Yes and no. They know, but they can't acknowledge it directly without pain for themselves. But truth has a tendency to slip out whatever we like it or not. Edit: this is just my thoughts tho. I'm not a psychologist and I don't think my speculations about a real person's mental health should be taken as fact. Just want to add that this is pure speculation. I'm nonbinary myself and I do think Ollie is disrespectful and wrong on all fronts, I disagree with their choices and opinions. Not trying to excuse them, just trying to understand.

One of the most creepy things that Oli has said was, that he "visits all of Jimins favorite places and hangouts" when he is in korea. I have no idea if this is actually true, but this is beyond stalker behaviour. Korean BTS fans and even BTS has said in the past that they can sometimes roam the streets of their hometown freely and are pretty much left alone if they are spotted in public when they are off schedule (apart from some sasaengs) ...so if Oli actually has this genuine obsession with Jimin and really shows up at places at his home/at his place of living/restaurants etc then I genuinelly hope Jimin gets a restraining order!!
