Uncle Tony's Garage

3 жыл бұрын

It started off as a whim, but now that we've dropped our 170 in place for the initial mock-up, this is starting to look like a pretty serious piece of machinery. Part Jag, part Vette, the Hillside Hemi has never found a cooler little home.

That Miata was like “do you think it will fit”, and Uncle Tony was Iike “you are going to take this whole thing and beg for more before I’m done”. It’s content like this why I don’t need anything Hollywood puts out these days.

Had a 62 Ford falcon van that I left the valve cover looks because a lifter rod would come loose from the rocker so when it popped off you would open the door to the engine doghouse and lift the valve cover off and grab the rocker and with two fingers of the same hand guide the push rod back in place and it would smooth right out put the cover back on, close the doghouse and keep on driving

Hi Tony, I love what you're doing with the "Mopata"! With regards to the oil pan clearance issue, may I suggest swapping to an oil pan from a B-body instead of cutting the K-frame? I'm building two Slants myself right now, one came out of a '66 Belvedere, the other from my early A-body. Comparing the pans, the B-body sump sits about an inch or two rearwards of the A-body sump. Its also a little deeper under the last two cylinders, which is a good thing (for reasons you already know)! Cheers! Mikk from Canada

One of my first deliveries to them was a whole pickup full of parts and a slant 6 engine, when I went through the gate, headed towards a huge shop was a parking lot full of vans and probably 100 Plymouth Valiants, all equipped with slant 6 engines. Irwindale was the shop for all major repairs, we would rebuild or 2 engines a week for them.

23:03 "This is really beautiful!" Uncle Tony, I can hear the joy in your voice! I love this build and we're all having fun watching you have so much fun! I live on my sailboat in Key West and sometimes miss my gearhead days. I'll never move back to land so I'll live vicariously by watching your projects. Best regards, Black Heart Charlie

I love this channel. The Moiata is an example of hot rodding at it's best. Why? Because it's wrong and it's fun! I would paint the engine aluminum to give it a high tech look and tell folks it's a one off prototype. Why? Because it's wrong and it's fun!

Did you hear where the guys at roadkill said they wanted proof swapping pistons to the opposite side would create more power from a dyno they clowned uncle tony pretty hard I think you should do a dyno proof like they asked for just saying

@@hendo337 if it creates more power how can it not show up on paper the claim was more power from swapping pistons around if it only helps throttle response then what was told was not true but if it does create power how can it not I'm just asking I really don't know never have done it to say I would just like to see

Tony, this is where you and I part ways. First, they made bucket seats. Now you put an engine between the diver and passenger. How the hell is a kid supposed to get a little slap and tickle in that thing? Bench Seats FOREVER! aaaaaannnnnnddd RROOOOOLLLLL Up Your Windows!!!!!!

We used to move houses. Sometimes we would put two together side by side to make a bigger house. This often required removing part of the eave on one house. My uncle used a small chainsaw to cut the wood, nails, flashing, shingles, or whatever. It reminds me of this attempt at putting the slant in this Miata. Sort of scary, but effective and quick.

Reminds me as a kid watching my neighbor Fireman/Mechanic, put a 327 into a Rambler Metropolitan. This was in the early 60s. I handed him tools while he cussed up a storm. One of the coolest cars I ever saw, flared rear fenders, nice tires all around, with mags.

As it's a slant-six what you should try is something we used to do with Jag's in the UK, make the last 18" of exhaust out of a COPPER pipe, the growl on deceleration is awesome!
