Customer called because their septic tank was backing up. When a septic tank begins to back up, sewage can begin to overflow in the toilets, sinks, and bathtubs! We showed up and the customer had already dug up both of the septic tank lids for us making it a quick and easy unclog + septic cleaning.

I had a guy come by to pump out my tank. I also have 2 lids. He told me that they don't dig more then 2 ft. So he found the first lid that was about 1.5 ft deep. I had to dig out the other which was about 5 ft deep. Lucky I was to have soft, sandy soil. This tank was out in around mid 80's. I never heard of them not digging no more then 2 ft to get to the tank. Oh well. We will see how they do pumping when they come back today. Yes, also outing in "risers"

Great video and thanks for your work demeanor, very professional and considerate. I gather this gentleman was just being nice. However, at my previous home, the contractor charged $100 to dig out the lids so I did that myself. Homeowners might should ask if that's a thing. Where I currently live, the lids are only 6" or so beneath the top of the soil so not an issue. Too, in hindsight, I wish I'd exposed the lids myself putting the sod and soil off to the side (onto plastic underlay) to expose the two tank lids and the pump tank lid (above ground system). I could have then easily replaced the sod after the job was done. Just a tip if interested.

I pumped septics 50 years ago. The most common blockage occurred in the inlet pipe between the toilet bowl and the tank. Usual causes Poor or low flush Using way too much toilet paper. Cheers Gray Retired drainer.

This brings back so many memories. Especially when you're hooking up multiple hoses. I've had hose seals Is fail. I had hoses leaking. And I actually seen where something got stuck and the pump on the truck didn't have a safety catch. So it ended up crushing the tank.. That was kind of scary when that happened

If there's a consistent wet spot downhill from my drain field, maybe 15 yards, do you think that means the drain field is failing? It stays wet even when there hasn't been a lot of rain. It is only me in the house, so the septic doesn't get a ton of use.

My guy didn't use a crust buster which is fine because it wasn't very thick but he also didn't spray water and he didn't know if I had another chamber or not which seemed odd because you always know when you see the inside exactly what you are dealing with.

So the house that I am living in has a small septic tank . I had it cleaned out shortly after buying it. I live in Ohio and my house was built in 1962 . I am a widower and I do not allow any grease down my drains . No garbage disposal , and the right toilet paper used here . So how long can I go between have it pumped out ?

most recommend 2 years to avoid issues down the road. the more solids you allow through your filter bed or leachfield the more problems you may run into down the road. if you live there full time. no more than three assuming you have less than 4 people in the house and that is minimum

100 years ago I worked for a bank.... customer came in to see me.... very upset... she needed $20,000 to put in a Septic System.... thought it was kinda steep....they did not know that they had one.... thought they were connected to city sewer.... they are as rural as rural can get... had to come to town to go hunting.... knew that they had a well.... found the tank and field under the paved driveway....

Local septic place where i live charges 75$ if they have to dig the lid up. My lid was about 1ft down so it wasn't to bad to dig but now we have riser's on it after had to have a new drain field as old one failed.
