Using a Medium size Cobra Drain Cleaning Rubber Bladder from Lowes in the plumbing section.

Thanks for posting. Believe it or not my clog in my pool jets was from a size 8 plug!!!! Closing my pool needs size 10 (bigger ones). Just watching yall helped a lot. I put the bladder in the pump side for 15 min a felt cold water in the jets! Put the bladder in one if my in ground jets for one minute and the old plug came all the way to the end of the pipe. Had to pull it iut with pliers. Now pool is back in action!!!

You are totally doing this procedure backwards. You need to put the bladder on your pump side, turn off the main drain and put the bladder thru the pump side. If the line is clogged you are making the clog even worse by putting it in the skimmer side. Also as someone else has said you need to fill your skimmer with water to prime it before starting your skimmer. You may have to try it several times before it gets unclogged. You have two pipes coming out of your pump. One is for the main drain at the bottom of the pool and the other is for your skimmer. You need to turn the orange valve off for the main drain and put the bladder in the skimmer side at the pump. Then turn on your water. You should see the water coming out of the skimmer. Good luck.

You don’t have a clogged line at all. Your pump just lost it’s prime. Filling water in the suction line fixed it - you didn’t even need to use the bladder

You only needed to prime your pump You don't ever blow out your lines towards the pump, you do it the other way around Oh and those little white things are called return jets lol Great job though for trying to do it yourself and save your family a few bucks.. 👍👍

Sounds to me, I could be wrong but, I think you need to add a one way check valve. That would prevent what I think is your biggest issue, loosing prime in your pump.

On your T piping coming into your pump: your red valves are both open which means the pump is getting water from both the skimmer and main drain. Close one out and go check the skimmer hole for suction. No suction means that the close valve/line line comes from the skimmer.

Next time try filling the pump basket to the top with water, before screwing the lid back on and turning on the pump. This is how you "prime" the pump/line. This removes any air pockets in the line which disrupts the siphoning action that brings water in from the pool at the same rate that it is going out through the filter. Another thing is you don't want to use the bladder device in a toilet. The expansion of the bladder can shatter porcelain and really mess up your day. Its okay to use in a sink if the whole bladder fits down the drain pipe. If any of it is sticking out of the pipe it will expand and could rupture. It says to pulse the water on and off using the faucet. But I've found by crimping the hose by folding it over and gripping it in one hand, I can turn on the water, then insert it and hold the hose in place while I pulse the water gradually increasing the pressure. But you still want somebody there ready to shut off the water if things don't go as planned. I don't mean to act like a know it all but I popped the first one when it backed out of the skimmer pipe as I turned on the water. Then I read the directions.
