Hey Post, something that I just thought of is you should have a mark on your rake at the same hight the top of the different boots you own and a visual guide. Could be useful especially if the water is dark and murky.

Would it be too difficult to carry PVC pipe that strong enough and long enough to go through there You know how you have roof racks on a truck you can carry them not sure just thinking outside the box I know you mentioned excavaters use poles and what have you. Maybe at the end of the PVC pipe you can put another pipe through it for a handle You can push back and forth I don't know maybe it's been brought up before. Wow a lot of muck! There must be a ton of parasites and leeches
