Heads up - we still have a coupon with NMA, but the one in the video no longer works. You can use the new code DRAWABOX for 25% off your first billing cycle on either the Library or Library+ plans. For the most current coupon/terms, check the banner at the top of the drawabox.com website.

I like this one. Probably among other things line weight is one of more important thing to know and teach. Especially given your approach to teach by lineart, so to speak.

Heyyy! This is so great! I'm starting my 4th and FINAL attempt at drawabox this year and I'm so excited. This is extremely timely

Having watched this video, it feels like I just unlocked the 6th sense. Can't wait to apply this method to my drawings! Thank you so much Comfy for the insight.

Excellent stuff, as always. Newest batch of videos are top notch man. Almost finished the 250 box challenge and this was perfect for the concise, crystal clear guidance needed for highly selective line weight. Only question- would this apply to the nearest edges of a box, as they often overlap the back-facing edges? Or does that simply confuse from the attempted line weight emphasis on the silhouette edges?

Glad to hear you found it helpful! As to your question, the overlaps we're talking about are between different forms, so you would not be applying line weight to clarify overlaps between edges of the same form. To that end, hatching applied to one face of your boxes that points towards the viewer would be a better tool to help clarify which side of the box is which.

@@Uncomfortable excellent, thanks for the quick reply! I’ll carry on with the selective line weight emphasis only on parts of silhouette edges and hatching for one of the viewer-facing sides

It as not part of the lesson previously, although we did talk about these concepts in some of the box challenge notes. When we made a video about it, we felt this was a more appropriate place to include it.
