Parents got ride of my Alien toys when I went to college, I own an original AvP arcade board but that’s about it for my collection. Also I still read all the Alien books and comics that come out. As a kid, I was obsessed with these movies, and after collecting all the Kenner toys, I also would end up finding weird random items at comic shops. 10:19 those blasters. We had them in the UK as well. Maybe not under the Aliens line. But we definitely had them. A friend had a pair and we would do battle at his house with them! Edit: I commented before watching the section. So did you only get one in the box? The set my friend had came as a two pack and they work as a laser tag game. The lights on the top are your “lives” and they would deplete as you took hits. On the box art you will see a black thing over the laser emitter. This folds up and down. In the down position it keeps the beam precise and when you lift it up the beam is much wider making it easier to hit your opponent.

My brother is an avid Aliens fan and when we were kids in the 90s he collected the hell out of the Kenner line. You know when people claim they had an entire toy run when they were kids? That was my brother. He owned every single Kenner Aliens release that hit UK toy shelves. He came home with the Scorpion Alien, Bull Alien, Ripley, Drake, the Stinger and the Power Loader the first day they hit the shelves (he was working as a paperboy for a small retail chain and spotted them in the store room waiting to be put on the shelves) and every week he'd come home on Saturday with at least one new figure and committed to the line for the entire duration. The only releases he never got were the Queen Hive playset as that never retailed over here as well as the KB Toys repaints and Hive Wars figures (again, didn't hit retail here) though he did secure the Evac Fighter, a vehicle that never was released here by Kenner UK here but ended up in discount chains from unsold American stock. Recently I've been collecting the line and been looking up information on the unproduced figures like the unreleased Dropship and Mini-Dropshit vehicles, the rest of the Hive Wars line, the Jungle Hunter Space Marines (meant to represent the human characters from Predator) and so on, but this video here is the first time I've ever seen anything about planned roleplaying items. And to see photos no less! The helmet and the Smartgun are pretty damn cool and I would've loved to have seen those be released. The gatling gun being a repurposed Robo-Blaster from Kenner's 'Robocop and the Ultra Police' line doesn't really surprise me as Kenner were well known for reusing old toys in newer lines. I would love to see that Market research document and any photos of the toys it contains. I spotted kitbashed Aliens that appear to be be using the originally planned 1979 Alien mold (I believe I read somewhere that Kenner planned to use these molds at some point in the late 80s but scrapped that) as well as a mock-up/kitbashed Dropship vehicle too which appears to be more crude looking compared to the photos/videos of the finalized design that never released, but still an interesting look at the design process. I'm eagerly looking forward to that video.

Makes it a bit easier to collect when you’re younger if you a your own money to play around with. It’s kind of the same story with the bright colored variants that seemed to have a much larger distribution in the UK. Luckily I have secured those but, sadly only have one complete. That document I have is really fascinating. There is ALOT of information to unpack. I am hoping to get some time with the former Kenner employee who wrote the document and I acquired it from to gain some more insight. @@2DayRentals Thanks. I actually played a part in my brother getting the wave 3 Marines. I was in our local Woolworths after school one day and spotted O'Malley on the shelf. I knew of the three new Marines already from the cardbacks of the wave 3 Aliens already and even though my brother had already joked about not wanting O'Malley (he disliked the idea of a new character rather than a movie one) said he'd get it anyway because he'd make him Gorman. I checked the shelves for the other two and spotted Hudson. I put them both in the back of one of the peg racks and ran home to tell him they were in stock. He wasted no time in securing them as he wanted Hudson as he was my brother's favourite character, though he hated the gimmicky torpedo launching backpack accessory. The following week I was back there checking the shelves again and no sign of Vasquez still. On the off chance I asked an employee if they had one in the back and sure enough they did. I didn't have the money to get it for him but took the figure, did the same tick except this time I hid it behind a different line of action figures (he had asked me to do that if I spotted any figures he was looking for) and ran home to let him know. That day he came home with Vasquez and I think another Arachnid Alien as his first one had broken. I'm glad I did that as during the rest of the line's run he and I never saw another Vasquez or Hudson in the wild again and I knew of at least two other people who were collecting the line, so my brother had bragging rights when my two friends saw those figures in his collection. To this day he still has all the figures, boxed up and safely put away. For a while he genuinely believed someone he knew had swiped his Vasquez figure as he had her sitting in the Evac Fighter but turns out he had put her away with the rest. He pulled out the Hovertread vehicle and the batteries from 1994 were still in there and still working! I picked up a Hovertread back in 2018 and the batteries I put in didn't even last long. Although my collection is nothing compared to his, it has been slowly building up. I got a good deal on a loose set of all the Space Marines with all the accessories minus Apone's grenades and the clip to O'Malley's capture claw. The claw is a goofy accessory so I'm in no rush to get it complete at the moment and O'Malley isn'treally a sought after figure. Hudson's backpack had a crack in it but I managed to find the original version on eBay for a good price to replace it and thankfully Vasquez was complete. Besides the Marines I have a few loose Aliens including the two Hive Wars xenos and a loose Queen Hive playset which is just missing the Ooze and the little chestburster. I also picked up the mailaway Ambush Predator, a figure we never got over here because I had longed for an invisible Predator back in the 90s when I was picking up that line (my brother wanted to focus solely on the Aliens line). Sadly he has discoloration on his limbs but I might try and see if I can get that fixed.

@@10mtproductions55 man you have great stories! Glad you played a part in your brothers collection and have started to build yours as well. I am all for collecting loose figures and build up the accessories later… some of them I am in no rush to get because much like you said they are more toyetic and kind of silly. I’m working on several new customs for this line and that’s where I think I will put most of attention moving forward. Never say never though if I am at a convention and see good prices on things I usually snag them. Either just to have a duplicates or potentially use for expansions and customs. Long term I do have some plans and pieces for a legit drop ship that even holds a vehicle. I ran into some construction issues with my first go around so, it was back to the drawing board. With so much content from the Aliens and AvP comics the possibilities are endless in ways to expand this line. It’s shame that Kenner didn’t pull more from the comics but, that’s okay gives me something to work on now. Really love the stories! Keep them coming and thanks for sharing!

Pretty sure it's comparatively common, but, I'm lucky enough to have the Operation: Aliens Xenomorph Queen poseable wristwatch still sealed. It's adorable, but, givem that the screen is, melty to say the least, i doubt I'll ever use it as my own watch.

Awesome vid. I too have a pretty substantial Alien collection. Most “out there” thing I own is a collection of Japanese Alien soap dispensers. They’re pretty cool and haven’t seen them pop up much. How much was the popcorn bucket? I’d love to get one but scalpers are being dickheads again 😞

I collected the Aliens and Predator toy-line as well in the 90's. But living in Australia, I didn't have as much access to all the stuff released. Definitely not as much as your collection though! Shame the animation never got made.. I think it'd be a hit as an AvP series with those conceptualized characters if it was done as an adult anime like Blood of Zeus on Netflix.
@2DayRentals4 ай бұрын
It always interesting to hear about what kind of reach certain things had across the world. It’s a shame Australia didn’t get more on their shelves. You’re absolutely right it’s a shame that Fox passed on the idea for the cartoon. Maybe with Disney owning the rights now and seeing their work with XMen 97 we can one day get something that closely resembles what they would’ve done. Thanks so much for stopping down and joining the conversation!

I collect some of the aliens stuff but I mostly collect Ghostbusters mostly. See what I did there? Lol anyways I have honestly never seen any of this stuff. Very cool. I love oddball stuff like that and learning about it. I think if I sad any of that stuff in store as a kid I would have probably wanted it. I think that was one reason why they made that stuff they were gearing up to make a cartoon but probably thought it wasn’t for kids at the end of the day. Sure would have been cool to see. Probably would have gotten a lot more toys if it did happen. Unfortunately Kenner was being bought out in the early 90s by Hasbro and I think Hasbro was just pushing out everything that Kenner had in its line ups as fast as they could to make its investment back from buying Kenner but maybe that’s me. I know it probably was a weird time for Kenner back then with most of the licensing and Hasbro buying them.
@2DayRentalsАй бұрын
I see what you did there. Sick reference 😂 nice to see another collector of the oddball stuff too. Much like you said even as a kid I was into the off the beaten path type items that are just quirky and unusual. Guess now that I’m in my 40s not much has changed. I’m totally with you on how the cartoon could have brought even more people to be exposed to the franchise plus it would’ve just been so cool to have an animated Aliens series. I’m kind of surprised no one has attempted it since. Kenner had such an incredible run for about 20 years or so. So many licensed properties. They will always be my favorite toy company. Thanks so much for checking out the video!

That smart gun that neve got released has a chopper hand controller attached to it. Must be something the just threw together. Its definatly the wrong way to hold it. I still have one of those chopper controllers. Different buttons on it. Sounds like machine gun. Dropping bombs etc. So funny to see that.
@2DayRentals4 ай бұрын
Damn good eye sir. I was thinking they had to have kit bashed that together for a proof of concept prototype situation. Kenner loves to reuse pieces from their toys lines so I wouldn’t be surprised if they intended on doing something like that if it ever got released. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for stopping down to check out my channel.
