I think the pause is still very important in cold water. However, the power/number of jerks can still be VERY aggressive even in the cold.

I was watching another jerkbait video as I was getting ready to go hit the river. I was scrolling videos as well and came up on this video, I instantly switched because 1. Your videos are way more informative you don't just give parts of information you give every aspect of information there is. 2. I know the baits you use (because you don't hide that from us) and I use a lot of those exact same baits so I know if I'm going to pick up a tidbit chances are it's on your videos. Good stuff dude.

Great video. So why is it that with bass in this cold of water want a blade bait to move the shortest distance possible but trigger a reaction bite but you are really ripping that jerkbait. Randy blauket recommends tiny movements with a jerkbait during winter time water temps. What made you rip it on this day instead of long pauses with twitches?
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing Жыл бұрын
A bass will react to fast movements no matter how cold the water
@bryandavismoviefan
@bryandavismoviefan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. So if that's the case, why not use an x-fast rod to get same movement out of bait with a lot less effort plus you'd be able to feel the missed hits or ticks with that softer rod tip.

Love jerkbait videos Matt but, I have questions. 1. Is that monofilament line on that spinning reel? Because, fluorocarbon coils real bad on spinning gear I have read. 2. I see you don't "reel the jerkbait down" after it hits the water. Should I stop doing that and, just jerk it down? 3. You jerk the lure and I notice you then drag it a little distance slowly. I see other videos where they say just jerks, no imparted movement and then I see yours and Randy's saying move it a small distance in between jerks. 4. Doesn't it suck getting a treble hook stuck in your gloves! Haha Good stuff!!
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing Жыл бұрын
i use straight fluorocarbon. It helps get the bait down deeper and provides better sensitivity. im actually not pulling the bait forward. it looks like it but im moving my rod forward to keep feel of my slack line. But retrrieve cadence needs to be figured out on each day.
