I’d replace the fish hook with a snap swivel. It’ll hold just as well without the pokey part & most people have them in the same tackle box as hooks.

Info for people: double check your local fishing regulations. It varies state by state. For the most part (again, check - there's always exceptions) you can legally take baitfish east of the Mississippi (Tennessee is a known exception) but westward it gets less and less legal. In pretty much all cases you'll need a standard fishing license to do so. The methods you can use also varies. in some states, trapping is legal. in others, it's not, but you can use a minnow seine (WAY faster anyway!). Quarantining feeders is always a good idea. Some of the small fish are super interesting aquarium fish on their own. Once you've got fish in tanks at home, don't release them back into the wild. Especially if they've been introduced to non-local fish - you never know what ELSE you're releasing to contaminate your local environment.

How can we adjust wild fish to eat aquarium food flakes?
@peziki3 жыл бұрын
It works if you get them as fry. Don't feed them flakes, use pellets that you have crushed in a cup... so they'll sink. I use goldfish pellets and cichlid pellets from walmart. The wild nanos in my tank are about 5 yrs old and size about 3 inches.

These are locally called "mosquito fish". Considered a rough fish, freshwater; and related to regular guppies. They breed live babies in proliferation just like guppies. Perhaps they even could be cross bred w/guppies.
