What did you use to secure the pond liner to the sides of the pond?

Great advice! I'm planning to set up a native tank soon myself and came across your videos. In my experience, several LFS both in my current town and previous have always told me that keeping native species in your aquarium is "federally illegal" or just claimed it was illegal in the state when it was not. One also told me that in order to keep native fish, Sunfish, Crappie, Darters, etc. you absolutely must have a very expensive water chiller (they cost thousands) and keep the water below 60 degrees or they would die. So do a bit of your own research folks, always have more than one source of info.

Info for people: double check your local fishing regulations. It varies state by state. For the most part (again, check - there's always exceptions) you can legally take baitfish east of the Mississippi (Tennessee is a known exception) but westward it gets less and less legal. In pretty much all cases you'll need a standard fishing license to do so. The methods you can use also varies. in some states, trapping is legal. in others, it's not, but you can use a minnow seine (WAY faster anyway!). Quarantining feeders is always a good idea. Some of the small fish are super interesting aquarium fish on their own. Once you've got fish in tanks at home, don't release them back into the wild. Especially if they've been introduced to non-local fish - you never know what ELSE you're releasing to contaminate your local environment.

I have kept wild fish for years. Currently I keep banded darters, rainbow darters, spot fin shiners, blunt nose minnows and brindled madtom catfish. The darters are rather personal and swim to the top of the tank during feeding time. These are a benthic fish having no air bladder and stay on the bottom and are the smallest species of the perch family. They are finicky eaters that I have never gotten to take flake foods, but demolish blood worms and dead mosquito wigglers. The spot fins and blunt nose eat flake and blood worms, and the madtom eats anything. Spot fins, like the satin fin shiners are the corvettes of the tank. Very energetic fish! These are all river fish I have caught myself while wading the local stone bottom river. One more thing I want to add here is this. Catching your own aquarium fish is very rewarding and fun, but... there are endangered species. If you cannot accurately identify a fish you catch, set it free. You may be taking home an endangered species. Always be able to identify your fish! We want to respect and protect our wetlands and waters. Know your laws, get permission, be licensed if needs be, harvest wisely and responsibly, and enjoy this wonderful hobby!

It’s always been interesting that you can catch and kill whatever non endangered fish you want but you can’t keep them alive in an aquarium if you wanted in some places

Been using this for the last 5 years, still have the bag I bought then from Walmart, I just boil mine before adding it to my filter for 15 minutes to kill any germs or bacteria, but this stuff is the best, just make sure it says lava rocks, "it's the rocks you use to line the inside of your propane grill" on the bag not imitation lava rocks, I've seen regular rocks dyed red for landscaping decorations...

In answer to your question in the beginning of the video First time I kept wild fish I kept about 15 mosquito fish which was easy I just threw them in a Rubbermaid container and I'd feed them pieces of bread and other pieces of my food No airorator or anything Second time was with channel cats but they started tryna go belly up so I just cleaned and ate them as they was supposed to be for when I originally caught them And then about a week ago I caught a little female bluegill and she wouldn't eat at all until this morning when I found her belly up but still kinda alive so I threw her back in the creek

I would say as long as you have a license and you caught them legally… eat them or keep them what difference does it make. Once you catch them they are your property to do with as you will.
