Great job ladies! By far the best review on Cali Red I've seen! I just picked up a bottle today. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. I'm not really a wine drinker and I have not found one I like yet. So hopefully this one will be the ONE! Happy New Year!

You are right about the years 2018 and 2019. I found by accident that ALL the 2017 reds (grown in U.S.) are really good but I don't know why. They are getting harder to find, but some are still out there on the shelves such as Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 -- I would highly recommend. But I really like the Snoop Dogg Cali Red. Very interesting and surprising for a 2019. Cheers!

Thanks for the insight, Linda! Cheers! I know 2017 in Cali was warm which led to some of the grapes ripening faster, but it was a hard yard for Cali wine since the fires started that fall. Some of them red wine varietals had been picked, but lots were smaller from vineyards that were damaged. But I like early ripening wines were good from that year! We will be on the lookout for the wine you mentioned, thank you for the recommendation.

I think it's a blend of petite sirah and zinfandel

I definitely taste Zinfandel so that would make sense! It's so complex

As an employee of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation, the opinions expressed in this comment are my own and not that of my employer. Take a wine course! You're drinking this wine at the VERY wrong temperature, to taste it as the winemaker intended. Complex...? It's jammy on the nose and palate, with solid, silky tannin, and medium acidity... like all Cali blends pretty much. The really good examples have more however from proper oak aging in proper French/American barrels, giving them more complex flavors then the oak staves used in this. Am I saying you can't drink your wine like this? No. Taste is subjective and you do you. It's not a terrible wine at all IMO, but not what I'd buy for $20 in my area as there are far better deals. However, I AM saying that you are tasting this wine incorrectly for reviewing it. A wine course will also teach you how to not fall trap to marketing ploys like this. I bet about $2 from each bottle goes straight to Snoop Dog. If you know how to read a wine label, this becomes obvious and you can drink better wine at the same price range. Sorry for putting you down, but if you have a wine channel, at least know how to taste it.

Thank you for the feedback, as well as for watching our video. We appreciate feedback since we're still learning ourselves. Our reviews might not be the standard that you would get from someone more experienced, however, we're not really going for that approach either - we're doing our best to offer a more relaxed and approachable review. We've definitely experienced feeling overwhelmed when walking through a tasting where someone was using really complex ways to describe a wine just because that might not be relatable to a larger audience. We always LOVE to have experts tell us what they taste, as that's what they learn, but the majority of people drinking wine might not need or want that higher level breakdown. We also know there are probably better quality wines than Snoops for the same price, but we personally really liked it, and we like tasting celebrity wines. Our favorite thing about the wine community is that there is room for a ton of different opinions, winemaking techniques, and more - but we all share the main focus of appreciating wine.

@@uncorkedwithshannonandtara8151 " Our reviews might not be the standard that you would get from someone more experienced, however, we're not really going for that approach either - we're doing our best to offer a more relaxed and approachable review." Ok, but at least drink the wine correctly. DO NOT chill it for 2 hours or at all if it's a red (exception Gamay). Also LOOK at the wine correctly. Don't hold it up to the light, be in a well lit room and look down through the glass with a white background and find the colors as it goes from core to rim. As for complex descriptions, that's all a bunch of pretentious BS anyways. What do you smell? What do you taste? Think about other fruits, flowers, foods, or just things in our environment (like cat's pee in some Sauv Blanc's or leather on a Barolo). Then evaluate how big the tannins are and what their mouthfeel is like. and you did say that this wine is complex in its flavors... that is simply not true. Don't worry ladies, I'll have a video response to this next week.
