The Labrador Retriever, often abbreviated to Labrador, is a breed of retriever dog that was developed from imported Canadian fishing dogs. Labs descend from the Newfoundland Dog and the St. John’s Water Dog in Newfoundland, Canada. The Labrador Retriever was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1917 and thereafter rose slowly but steadily in popularity due to its incredible versatility, obedience, and rugged good looks. It is now considered the world’s most popular breed.

The puppy rail is so very important. We unfortunately lost our favorite puppy on the 3rd day of our litter. we immediately installed the puppy rail after we learned a heartbreaking lesson and we know it definitely saved the lives of a few puppies after installing it. Puppy rail is a MUST!

How many puppies do you think I can expect from a 60 lb Labrador dam and a 80 lb sire? Both have never been bred before.

Can you breed a American lab and a English lab and if so would they still be considered akc

If dam and sire are both AKC registered Labrador Retrievers…yes.

Also, what kind of Labs do you breed? American or British? Why?

We breed for a mix of American and English. Typically the English Labs are the stockier, heavier, lower to the ground, lower energy, photogenic cuddle buddies/ porch potatoes we all know and love. The American variety tend to be taller, leaner, slim high energy working dogs that win all the field trials. Gun dogs. We make an attempt at a “best of both worlds” breeding philosophy for the family pet market. That is one of the joys of selective breeding.
